I can't say how pleased I am that this took you on an emotional whirl. This chapter was tricky because of the plotty bits, and also because there were things I planned to include which didn't quite fit, and then when I cut them I wasn't sure where the emotion came in. Finally it came after I re-wrote the beginning with Amos Diggory instead of the Head of Aurors, and I was able to get my emotional angle for how Tonks was seeing and responding to Remus before he finally crumbled.
As I said down below to tweedledani, I think the key to Remus in this universe is that he's very good at not showing his emotions, but the longer he's been with Tonks, the more she sees through him, and as the stakes are raised for them in the Order, he becomes more emotionally dependent on her, as well. All part of building up to how broken they are apart in HBP. I'm really thrilled you think it works! It was so tricky to pull off in the alley scene, and I'm really glad you think I did.
As always, I'm just so grateful that you're reading and enjoying, and I can't thank you enough for taking the time to comment. :) Here's to getting this thing finished on time. I can't believe we only have 6 days to go till DH!
