Discussion - Dissecting & Deciding on R/T Characterisation.

Apr 25, 2007 13:20

We've had several suggestions for topics that you'd like to see discussed here in future weeks (more are always welcome), and for this particular one we're indebted to cae_prince, who wonders how we perceive the characters of Remus and Tonks, and what inspires and influences us to 'see' them in the way we do....

When it comes to the characterisation of Remus and Tonks, which canon moments do you use most often as a reference or guide? How do you blend the different aspects of Remus and Tonks we see in the books into a cohesive whole?

Are there any canon moments that you find difficult to deal with in terms of your own characterisation? Does the movie version of Remus (and the soon to appear Tonks) influence you at all?

Does fanon characterisation and what you enjoy reading in other people’s fics have any affect on your own approach?

Is your approach to writing R/T the same as it is to writing other characters? For example, is it easier to write The Trio, or other main ones, simply because there is so much more canon available to work with? Or is part of the attraction and enjoyment of writing R/T the fact that you can fill in the gaps with your own imagination and interpretation?
