Not only do I absolutely love denial-fics in general, but this is just a wonderful story.
I love the idea of the "cleaning up" in the Ministry, and the emotions really came across. I was laughing several times, for example at the "parting gifts" and the changed names in the registry...

Thanks! I like to mix drama and humor, and I'm glad you liked that aspect of this story.

Oh, how I love paternal!Remus. You characterize him wonderfully, really.

And what R/T shipper doesn't appreciate a good denial-fic?

I like the idea of 'cleaning-up' as the last task for the Order and how Remus would be proud of his students, as I think that would be one of the first emotions we would feel when witnessing them fight and do it well.

Great job!

Yes! That's why I finally had to break down and write a denial-fic.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks!

This is a great AU fic which deals with the aftermath of the battle in a reasonable and satisfying way.

I love that you made the Order of the Phoenix "clean" the ministry, it gives both the reader and the characters the opportunity to get rid of everything evil and start over new, which is also perfectly conveyed within the relationship of Remus and Tonks, her breakdown in the Auror department gives her the opportunity to process everything and restart her life with her family, as it wasn't quite possible during the war.

I'm glad to see such wonderful fics in this challenge, you depicted a moment, which is written about very seldom and you did a great job with it!

Besides you gave me a new favourite song, as the Jim Croce song fits the story very much and will always remind me of it. :)

That was exactly what I was going for, so I'm glad it worked out so well! Thanks. :)

And it is a great song, isn't it?

Hoo Ray for denial Fic! this was a really lovely piece! I can just picture Remus Walking around the deserted trashed ministry with Teddy in his arms and the sounds of the "cleaning crew' in the background. Thanks so much for posting it!

Thanks!

The image of Remus carrying Teddy through the empty halls and singing to him was the first idea that came to me, and the whole story grew around that. I'm glad you liked it.

What a wonderful story! This mission was something I could actually picture the Order members taking part in after the final DH chapter (prior to the epilogue), one of the "missing moments". I loved how you so effectively mixed in bits of humor with poignant, heartfelt moments. I became a little misty reading about Remus' overprotective concern for Dora, Dora's inability to leave Teddy for more than a few minutes, Andromeda's steely determination to participate on the mission in honor of her husband and daughter, the brief mentions of the brave Order members, both old and new; and especially the wonderful interaction between Remus, Dora, and Teddy. Your description of Dora's inner battle with anguish and guilt was very realistically portrayed, and Remus responded to her with such love, tenderness, and care. It was just what she needed at the time, and what they all needed to begin the healing process ( ... )

Thanks so much!

This is something I love doing in my writing, so I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I cannot think of a song that would more appropriately fit this story.

When I was trying to think of a song, and I remembered this one, it was like a perfect fit. Once this one was in my mind, nothing else would do. It's sort of my bittersweet tribute to my favorite deceased characters.
