The Beatles and the Bard Timeless Moon Ball Rules & Posting Guidelines

May 12, 2008 14:14

The following are the rules of metamorfic_moon's The Beatles and the Bard Timeless Moon Ball Rules. To sign up for the event, please do so HERE. Remember, that in signing up, members agree to abide by all rules set forth by the moderators.

Rules:

1. Length
Submissions must be a minimum of one foot of parchment - or 1000 words. There is no maximum length. One-shots only, please, no chaptered fics. You may, however, post sequels.

2. Ratings

Writers
All ratings accepted (including NC-17) so long as appropriate warnings are listed in post information outside the lj-cut. You can find a ratings guide here. Please note the following equivalents:

K=G
K+=PG
T=PG13
M=R
MA=NC-17

Artists
Any media, rating up to R (so no graphic nudity or explicit sexual scenes, please), but the focus of the piece should be Remus/Tonks. Appropriate warnings should be listed in the post information outside the lj-cut.

3. Prompts

Use
You will receive two prompts, but you are not required to use both prompts in one piece, or even to use both prompts at all. You may create one piece of art/fic that utilizes both prompts. Or one piece using one prompt. Or two pieces that each incorporate one prompt. Or two pieces based on the same prompt. Whatever inspires you. Submit as many pieces as your prompts inspire. If you exhaust your first set of prompts (by posting at least one fic or piece of art to the community*), you may return to return to the sign up thread for another round.

*You may not ask for more prompts unless you have posted at least one fic or piece of art to the community. If your prompts stump you, comment to the thread, and maybe our members can help you brainstorm some ideas.

Interpretation
Feel free to interpret your prompts in any way. If an entire quote or lyric doesn't inspire you, but one word in it does, write from that. Or if a quote or lyric holds a particular association for you, by all means, follow that train of thought! The only thing we ask you to do your best to avoid is simply quoting the lyrics by having the song play on the wireless, or having the characters read that particular Shakespeare play and come across your quote.

4. Content

Relationships
Previous het relationships are permitted as backstory, but no Remus/Anybody or Tonks/Anybody may be depicted within the actual story -- only mentioned as background information (sorry, no flashbacks to the characters' Hogwarts days).

Multicolored Werepups
One of the nicer things about Deathly Hallows was the appearance of a turquoise-haired addition to the family. Obviously he's more than welcome to make an appearance in your fic or art but, again, we're primarily an R/T community, so the main focus should still be on them, please. If you're writing or drawing AU, the same applies, even if you're extending their family, or have gone forwards in time to the epilogue, for example, and fancy having a crack at how R/T are coping with life with a grown-up son... ;)

Art
Manipulations are not accepted here, but you may work in any media you choose, provided the images are your own original work. (References are okay!)

Unsuitable Content
NC-17 submissions will be accepted entirely at the discretion of the moderators. Under no circumstances will we accept bestiality or incest, and other strong themes will be considered for appropriateness.

5. Plagiarism
Plagiarism is not tolerated at metamorfic_moon. If we find that work posted here is not the work of the member, either taken from another fic writer or fanartist, or is the manipulated work of a published writer or artist, the submission will be deleted from the community, and at the moderators' discretion, the member may be banned from the community.

When you have completed your entry and are sure it meets the guidelines, please note the following criteria before posting to metamorfic_moon.

Posting Format
Remember, posting access is already open, but before you post, please take note of our format.

Membership
Before you can gain posting access, you've got to be a member of metamorfic_moon, so be sure you've joined on the profile and aren't just watching the community.

Headings
All posts must include the following header:

Title:
Author:
Rating & Warnings:
Prompts:
Word Count:
Summary:
Author’s Notes:

Or if you’re an artist:

Title:
Artist:
Rating & Warnings:
Prompts:
Medium:
Summary: (if desired)
Artist's Notes:

Please bear in mind that any warnings, summaries and author's notes need to be rated PG-13 or lower, otherwise it sort of defeats the object. ;)

LJ Cuts and Text Modes
Post the body of the fic/art under an LJ Cut. Rich Text Mode is decidedly temperamental -- in fact, most problems experienced when posting have been when people have tried to post in rich text with tags, so we really recommend you use Plain Text Mode. We've got two graphics under the cuts to show you step-by-step what that entails if you're unfamiliar with it, and they're here and also here.

Tags
Please tag each entry with your username (if you're new and don't have a username tag, don’t worry, post anyway, and the mods will add it for you) and genre(s) (including art, if your work falls into a genre). Remember, two-thirds of our modding staff are Brits (and we’re gradually corrupting the other one;)) so the humour tag does include the U!

Artists, please also tag your posts with 'art'.

It would help us greatly if you would all also use the tag 'the beatles and the bard'.

Posting Elsewhere
All work must be posted directly to metamorfic_moon. (Artists, you of course may use your own LJ galleries or Photobucket accounts to host your art.) We'd like to request that you do not post your submissions elsewhere until the event is over. You may, of course, pimp your work in your own journals

Phew! Methinks the lady doth protest too much! But the rules are here for everyone's good, and we know our members will help us make this the best metamorfic_moon event to date. If you need somebody, and not just anybody, to ask about any part of the rules or whether your story fits our guidelines, don't hesitate to comment to this thread with your question, or, if you'd prefer it to be private, email one of our mods, who don't all live in a yellow submarine and are always happy to please, please, help you. (Our email addresses are on the community profile.)
