you strike a certain chord in the thick of me

So, as some of you know, I've been itching for a good concert for a while now. I haven't seen anything since the Tegan & Sara/Death Cab concert in OCTOBER. I was supposed to go see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs last month, but that didn't work out (CRY). But anyway, I finally got out and saw three local acts last Friday night!

Long, detailed review under the cut. With pics and video! )

I've decided that the only viable solution to concerts selling out is to start liking less popular bands instead. It's why I stopped liking Pearl Jam, for example.

It's so true. I was going to buy the tickets early, but the convenience charge online was HALF the price of the ticket itself. What is that about?

But! Apparently my friend has an extra ticket! So I can still go! :D

I try to avoid ticketmaster at all costs for the charges. I've been trying to go to the venue or an outlet whenver possible.

I'm kind of over the big concert experience. The smaller ones are a lot more fun for me.

Ticketmaster and LiveNation are complete ripoffs. LN used to be somewhat decent, but now it's just as bad.

I never really went to many big concerts - in Detroit it seems like either you have a smallish venue like St. Andrews Hall, or a huge stadium like the Palace. There's nothing in the middle - so the problem comes when semi-known bands are forced to book smaller venues and they get sold out.

WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN FTW

Also, yay Metric!

I want to go to concerts with Ami. When are Hawaii, California, and Michigan going to be moved directly next to one another so I an within driving distance of all of them? Wisconsin should also be moved.

I'm going to check out Charlene's album tonight.

Why have I split these sentences up into five paragraphs?

IT WAS SO AWESOME!

I don't know, but maybe we should all just move to the same place? I have to go to grad school eventually - I will look for programs near Lauren.

I hope you enjoy!

I don't know, I split up separate thoughts into paragraphs like this all the time... is that bad?

That would be so cool to be near Ami!

The album was pretty, I am listening again!

I always split my thoughts up like this. It's good, it's just spready-outy. Which should catch on as an adjective.

Aw, yay I'm glad you liked it! I'm kind of sad that I don't enjoy the Laurel Premo CD more. It's too bluegrass for me. Alas.

Spready-outy is a great adjective.

where's the setlist?? :p

Haha, I used the set list to know what songs I liked the most. I didn't think listing a bunch of songs no one knew would help anything.
