Well for those of you who were waiting on the edge of your seats to know, I didn't go to the Bangles concert :( The reasons were multiple: I found someone who would go (
mreyeliner aka Nidhi) but she didn't really know their music or anything and was just being nice and going with me because I had no one else and that made me feel guilty; we would have to leave late which means parking would be horrendous (and pricey) and that just stresses me out; the seats were on the lawn, and it started pouring right before we would have left; I don't really know their newer music, just their older hits; seeing Susanna Hoffs in person would have made me implode, even if she'd be the size of a mosquito from my seat. =P
It's okay though, I hung out with Nidhi instead and watched Weeds (I got the DVDs!! So watch out if you live nearby because I'll be trying to get you addicted.) and have been listening to the Greatest Hits CD non-stop. (Which, actually I uploaded for someone so here, if you want:
pimpy mcpimp pimp) I really need their actual records, especially their new one. Woo Bangles!
So today was the last day of my "internship." I realized I didn't actually talk about this on livejournal the entire month and a half I was there (except maybe briefly in a phone post?) It was at ALPS Automotive, which is where my sister works (yes, nepotism is my friend). But really it wasn't an internship because I don't want to be in that field or anything and I wasn't doing intern-y type things. I was hired to complete this data project, WHICH I finished. I feel accomplished of this fact.
It was really sweet actually. My sister manages this group, and since she's in Japan this week (she's always traveling for work) they took me out for lunch yesterday as a going-away thing. Their plan was to get a few drinks in me, but I picked a restaurant that apparently didn't serve alcohol. It was really good food though, and that's much more important. Today I said goodbye to everyone and got a few hugs and told I should come back for winter break. (just in time for the budget, haha NO.) And the woman in HR who hired me asked if I would be willing to tutor her first-grader and took my contact info. Exciting :)
I signed up for Fall classes, FINALLY. I'm taking Ancient Political Theory, Political Analysis, Microeconomics (this may change if I switch to a History class), and Ancient Greek. I'm pretty excited about the Ancient Political Theory class, because the more I think about it, the more I want to teach something similar if I do end up being a professor. Or maybe something related to classical literature and the political climates that influenced them. That's so INTERESTING.
The only thing is that I really really really need to apply to U of M Ann Arbor, like TONIGHT. I don't want to deal with another mess like the last time I applied. If you don't know that story, pretty much I got screwed. I just really don't want to write essays. Bleh. I think I'll be okay this time though, as long as all the papers are in line.
Recently I've been hanging out a lot with friends. It's really interesting how much more awake and unstressed I feel when I am super busy with both work and friends. The nights I just came home straight from work and didn't do anything, I was incredibly lethargic and the next day at work was hell. But when I was actually social, I was awake and chipper and didn't need the excessive amounts of coffee I usually did. But anyway, it's been really fun, and it's going to suck when everyone's back in school and busy.
Today is Teara's (
grdnofevrythng) birthday by the way, so woo for her! Hope she has a good one, despite having to work through last night AND tonight.
Wow, it's been a while since I wrote such a long post that wasn't about Tegan and Sara. =P
