I think Kay has it explained adequately. [Armand is speaking carefully, his French accent even more obvious when he does, as if that will keep the communicator from acting up.] I'd like to welcome you aboard. Your mother... is an impressive lady, Monsieur Conner.
Do you have any of the same difficulty using your family name? She was most insistent that I forgo politeness for [And here is an annoying long rattle of static.] safety reasons.

My name is Armand St. Just. I'm another one of the wardens on board here. I met Ma--Sarah very shortly after she arrived. The Admiral was less than kind to her.
Oh, some of who weren't-- [Another snarl of static and the video from Armand's end pops on showing him briefly frowning at the device and poking buttons. Then both are gone.]
As I was saying... some of us weren't as familiar with devices like these so we had books that included text and descriptions of the pictures. I could write in it with a pen.
This here--I tend to record only my voice or send videos--unless it is necessary. Writing with it is too hard.

She seemed to be upset at the location her cabin was imitating--it looked like a room at an inn. But you can probably talk to her more in detail if you wish. You'd understand more than I would, since I'm almost a stranger.
I wanted to welcome you, and hope we can get along. I quite liked Sarah. If I hadn't spent a week since her arrival in a coma and most of the time after that struggling to right things with my inmate, I would have paid her another visit. It's nice to know women you can look up to.
I, uh, have that book around here somewhere still. I should find it.

[He sounds a little hasty and embarrassed.] It's something that happens here. There is no good explanation other than 'tis the Admiral's doing.' People simply... pass out and cannot be awakened, sometimes for weeks at a time.
My last experience with it ended a week ago. My inmate doesn't like them, because if I'm unconscious, I can't very well be helping him. I don't blame him.

If you're the scientifically curious type, I think Chromie is studying the events. You cannot miss her--she's very short with pale hair.
I am glad to meet you. You can call me Armand if you like. If you need anything or have any sort of trouble with my inmate, Vladisaus Dracula, please feel free to contact me. Or leave a note under my door--tis cabin 5-13.

Did you hear that? I miss my book.

No. She's right to be concerned, but the thing here that would try to murder us based on our identities already knows we're here.
What book?

[ He waits the interference out patiently. ]
These kinds of devices are easy to control on a wide scale. I imagine that'd be the motivation.

That is the most fucked up thing I have heard about this place so far.

Yeah. Thanks, Armand. [ DRACULA. Really. Okay, temporal space barge, whatever. ]
... Sarah might not seem like she appreciates company. But she does.
