Pre-diet testing, Pt. 2

The scale has arrived! It's proving to be more difficult than I thought to get an accurate reading. I tried just getting them to stand on it but I don't think that's working. Either that or they both have lost or gained more than 1/2 lb in one day... and I doubt that. So, taking the advice of the folks I talked to, I'm now doing the hold them and weigh yourself technique, which seems to work better. I don't like that the scale only measures in .2 lb increments, I don't feel that's detailed enough when I'm subtracting my weight from the combined total.

In the week or so that I've had the scale, Sylvia has slightly increased in weight everyday. Nadia has gained even more, but I think that's more because of her ailment earlier in the week. I figured out the cause: a long piece or string she swallowed (like, thread, probably from the bobbin she stole from me a couple weeks ago). Let's just say finding the answer was a bittersweet moment.

I've been supplementing with wet food throughout the week. A) to get them used to it and B) to find out their likes and dislikes. The variety pack I bought has seafood, poultry, and beef. So far I think it's a tie between poultry and beef, the salmon isn't faring as well. We'll see.

But alas, no more postponing. The journey begins tomorrow. The dry food will be put up. They will meow at me. And someone will probably take off one of my fingers while I try to feed them. Because Nadia seems so into the wet food, and I know it's much better for her, I'll be switching her over too, and monitoring her weight to make sure I'm feeding her enough for her activity level.

No pictures this time; I don't know where the camera is. But I'll have more soon, and the first official numbers. By the way, the first non-official numbers are Nadia: 11 lbs, Sylvia: 12.4. That's significantly different from when I first weighed them, and there was a 2 1/2 lb difference. The first weights were 9.8 and 12.2, respectively (but they might have been wrong). If I can't get consistent readings from the scale I'm not sure what I'll do.
