Second Job

Dec 07, 2005 15:02

Recently I decided To get a second job at UPS. Well everything seems to be ran based on seniority, so I'm new and I am kinda screwed, they treat me like a rag doll. Its also a long commute, out be centennial airport in Englewood Colorado. Which doesn't sound bad but its between Littleton and centennial so its kinda shitty. If you want to be spared the details of all the jobs I do, in the eight hours, then skip the next paragraph. Anyway its "part time" but I still get 8 hours a day at-least. Oh well the time and a-half is nice anyway. The money isn't really good at all! But the reason I took the job was mainly for the health, vision, dental, and extra cash for school. The union is strong at UPS. So now my work hours are first job 1am-9am (approx) and then 10:30am - 7:30pm. Reason why I
I'm home now is ive caught a really bad cold, and I felt like shit after my first job, so I played hooky heh.

Now is time for the boring feces. The jobs I do. Well first off I unload trucks when I first come into the building. And oh lord it is cold in the trucks this time of year especially recently. Then after I Unload trucks for a while, then they send me over to the irregulars. An "Irregular" Is defined as anything over 5 foot 6, and or 75 pounds. So I have to load, and scan them for a while. Its a bitch when you expect it to be 70 pounds because that's what it says, and it really is about 300. Then I scan for a while which is a nice break. You scan the tag and put a sticker on the box, which tells the sorters which belt to put it on.

After that they send me to get the air. I go into the plane, pull out the "Air Can". I have to crawl usually because its only a small plane. Then I drive them back to the facility. Drag the "Air Cans" Out of the truck, lock them in place and then Unload them. What the bitch is about this is they are only 5 foot tall!!!!!. I'm 6 foot 2. So I have to bend over a foot and 2 inches while I'm throwing these boxes onto the belt. Ok I am giving to many details Ill finish this up faster.
My dog jacks and fluff are bugging me, they are so cute. Jacks is growling at himself in my workout mirror, and fluff is trying to find a way to look out the window lol.

Other duty's, bag drop, they are usually 75 pounds each, sorting boxes, and then loading boxes. So I basically do everything they have to offer except for janitorial duty's, driving and delivering packages. Oh and has-mat, don't have my certification yet.

ok well I'm done ranting I hope everyone is doing well in life, love and money. Or at-least as best as could be expected.

P.S. ITS freaking cold (trying not to cuss anymore) This morning it was -8 on my way to work That's -22 C for anyone who uses Celsius
