For my friends who don't get to hear these topics discussed on a daily basis in class, i would like to present a couple of things that i have learned so far in my politics and the media class, although i knew alot about it before i took the class. First i would like to share the "Project for a new american century" foreign policy paper that was written by the Bush Administration towards America's Foreign Policy perogatives for the next several decades.
Here are some highlights, be advised this is coming direct from the horses mouth, these are not my views, but theirs:
- "Develop and deploy global missile defenses to defend the American homeland and American allies, and to provide a secure basis for U.S. power projection around the world."
- "Control the new 'international commons' of space and 'cyberspace,' and pave the way for the creation of a new military service--U.S. Space Forces--with the mission of space control."
- "Increase defense spending, adding $15 billion to $20 billion to total defense spending annually."
- "Exploit the 'revolution in military affairs' [transformation to high-tech, unmanned weaponry] to insure the long-term superiority of U.S. conventional forces."
- "Need to develop a new family of nuclear weapons designed to address new sets of military requirements" complaining that the U.S. has "virtually ceased development of safer and more effective nuclear weapons."
- "Facing up to the realities of multiple constabulary missions that will require a permanent allocation of U.S. forces."
- "America must defend its homeland" by "reconfiguring its nuclear force" and by missile defense systems that "counteract the effects of the proliferation of ballistic missiles and weapons of mass destruction."
- "Need for a larger U.S. security perimeter" and the U.S. "should seek to establish a network of 'deployment bases' or 'forward operating bases' to increase the reach of current and future forces," citing the need to move beyond Western Europe and Northeast Asia to increased permanent military presence in Southeast Asia and "other regions of East Asia." Necessary "to cope with the rise of China to great-power status."
- Redirecting the U.S. Air Force to move "toward a global first-strike force."
- End the Clinton administration's "devotion" to the Anti-Ballistic Missile treaty.
- "North Korea, Iran, Iraq, or similar states [should not be allowed] to undermine American leadership, intimidate American allies, or threaten the American homeland itself."
- "Main military missions" necessary to "preserve Pax Americana" and a "unipolar 21st century" are the following: "secure and expand zones of democratic peace, deter rise of new great-power competitor, defend key regions (Europe, East Asia, Middle East), and exploit transformation of war."
Guys ... i have been following World History and US history since i have been at Auburn and if you take out the name United States and insert the word Soviet Union in its place, it would look exactly the same. Our country is trying to stretch its hegemony to World Domination, thats right, World Domination. No longer are we the democratic republic that was the shining light of the world, we have become a War Mongering state that is seeking total domination of the World. At who's expense you ask? Ours, the United States citizens who are paying our money to fund an administration who is setting ideals that we never voted for, or that were never mentioned in any campaign. Instead of spending money for the PUBLIC, such as HEATH CARE, EDUCATION, or in our ECONOMY (which by the way is completely controlled by China right now, for instance, if china were to convert it's currency exchange into euros instead of US dollars at this very moment, our economy would completely collapse and we would go into a recession) but instead of spending OUR money on that, we are paying $20 - $40 BILLION MORE each year to make sure the Bush Administration and their cronies get incredibly rich off of the oil instability in the Gulf region.
For those of you who are conservative, i am not slaming you, because i don't believe those of you who voted for George II these last two elections actually would vote for these policies, so i reality, the President is acting in HIS OWN interests and not the interest of the people who did vote for him, or didn't vote for him.
And the last time i checked ... every EMPIRE that has tried to dominate the world at any point in history has ended in complete disaster for that country i.e. the Roman Empire, the German and Japanese Empires after World War II, and the Soviet Union ... in other words we are playing a game that we cannot win.
