I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday. On Christmas Eve, my family went over to my Aunt Barb and Uncle Jim's house. My cousins had rented some (crappy) movies, and they suggested we watch Hot Rod. You know, I actually didn't think it was that bad. I watched figuring it would be stupid, which it was, but I also found a lot of it to be funny. It was kind of absurd, but I would watch it again. After the movie, we ate dinner and then watched some TV. It was a pretty boring and laid back Christmas Eve.
Then on Christmas day, my grandma and my uncle Tom came over. Once again, things were pretty quiet. I got some very nice gifts. My dad loved the gift that my sister and I got him. He is obsessed with The Nightmare Before Christmas, so we got him a nice lamp with Jack on it. We got it from amazon.com, but I'm too lazy to link to it. When my brother came downstairs, he handed me something and said, "Merry Christmas." My mouth dropped open and I promptly replied, "You have got to be kidding me." Seriously, I still cannot believe that he gave me (and the rest of the family) a gift. That's just not him. When he handed my dad his gift, my dad said the same exact thing as me, "You have got to be kidding me."
After my grandma and uncle left, my sister and I were planning on renting some movies, but then my mom suggested that we just go the movie theater because we all wanted to see Juno so badly, and it was finally out at the theater near our house. We made the decision to see the movie at 7, so we rushed out of the house so that we could make the 7:30 show. I've never gone to the movies on Christmas before, so I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was surprised by how crowded the movie theater was. I had such high expectations for the movie, so I was scared that I would be disappointed by it, but I wasn't. I really, really liked it. I'm terrible at reviewing movies, so I usually just say "I liked/enjoyed/didn't like it, etc." Or "It was good/bad/boring/excellent." Anywho, as I said, I liked it and I thought it was really cute.
After that, we felt like seeing another movie. Juno finished at 9:20, which was right when No Country for Old Men Started. I suggested we see that, but my sister vetoed that idea. We all wanted to see I Am Legend, but that didn't start until 10. The only movie that worked out was National Treasure: Book of Secrets. I really had no interest in seeing that one, and I hadn't even seen the first movie. But since my mom and sister wanted to see it, I agreed. They owe me now. The movie wasn't too bad or anything, but it wasn't exactly good either. I'm glad I didn't pay for it. I was in a bad mood at first because some one sitting near me had really bad B.O., and I had to move down a couple of seats so I couldn't smell them. And before the movie started, they had this stupid, lame ass cartoon featuring Goofy. What the hell was that about?
Since I've been talking about movies, I'll also mention that my sister and I went to the movie theater on Saturday. First we saw The Golden Compass. My sister has never read the books, but she really liked the movie. I read the books last year, but have forgotten a lot. It always bugs me when I can't remember the books because then, while I'm watching the movie, I'm always thinking, "Wait, did this happen in the book?" I liked the movie, but wish that they would have ended it like the first book ended. But I can understand why they didn't go there for the first movie. After that movie, we snuck into Walk Hard. I was kind of disappointed by this one because I was expecting it to be a lot funnier. There were a few people in the theater with us, and they barely laughed. I think my favorite part of the movie was The fake Beatles.
I'm hoping to rent some movies either tomorrow or Friday, and I plan on getting Waitress, Hairspray, and Once. Hopefully they'll be good.
