Mi padre
My dad just got home a half hour ago. He has been in San Francisco this past week doing some work thing. I think it's funny that every time he goes away, he brings back souvenirs for my mom, sister, and me. He never gets anything for my brother. This time he got me earrings and a necklace, plus a really pretty jade bracelet, which is an early birthday present. I think he went crazy in Chinatown. He got me a Chinese Zodiac necklace that has the symbol for the rat. He also got me this thing that has my name in Chinese calligraphy.
He bought himself a little box that has fake birds in it and makes an annoying chirping noise. I asked him why the hell he would buy that, and he said he needs something to entertain himself. Alrighty then. Our cat was actually entertained by it and one of dogs was freaked out by it. My dad is obsessed with The Nightmare Before Christmas and bought a Jack night light and key chain. I love that a 53-year-old man is obsessed with a movie that is usually associated with emo kids. I didn't get to see what my mom and sister got, but I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
When I was younger, I told my dad that I thought he looked like Danny Tanner (A.K.A. Bob Saget) on Full House. He got really offended and pissed off. I recently asked him why he got so angry about that and he said it was because Danny was such a dorky guy. When they were younger, they both were tall, skinny guys with similar hairstyles. That's all. Now I think my dad kind of looks like Stephen Colbert. I wonder what he would say if I told him that. Everyone tells my mom that she looks like Martha Stewart. I don't really agree. I think my brother looks like a pre-bloat/pre-drugs Devon Sawa. I can't think of any celebrities that my sister and I resemble. Although I am told that we look a lot alike. Once again, I don't really agree.
Jake Gyllenhaal was so cute on Ellen today (technically yesterday). He left her three funny messages for her birthday. I was actually supposed to be born the same day as her (Jan. 26), but I was late. Lucky me shares my birthday with Pauly Shore, Lisa Marie Presley, and the Famous Jett Jackson kid. I don't know why I remember these three, but I just do.
