Hiking is just walking where it's okay to pee.

Yay, it's snowing!

We finally took our Christmas tree down today. Or I should say, I took down the tree. This year I had to put it up by myself, decorate it by myself, and then take it down by myself. Thanks family for all the help. Now my dad wants me to put the Christmas village away. That's his thing, not mine. I told him no, and now he's pissed.

I got an e-mail from my former school's career center. They said that six months ago, I indicated that I had no plans after graduation. (It really has been longer than six months, which I can't believe). They want to know what I'm currently doing. They had a place where you could fill out info on the company that you are working for or info on the graduate school that you are attending. Then there's "other." I contemplated writing, "I still have no plans." Technically, that's not true. My plans are to get a job, but that just isn't working out so well. I think I'll just ignore the e-mail and not bother to respond.

I saw Pan's Labyrinth this past Saturday. I liked it, but I guess I was just expecting it to be way better based on all the excellent reviews it got. Don't get me wrong though - it was a really good movie. I kind of got distracted by the subtitles. I wanted to try to see how much of the Spanish I could understand without having to read the English, but unfortunately, my Spanish isn't that good. I ended up reading the subtitles for the majority of the movie.

I've read three books this past week. You have a lot of free time when you are unemployed and not going to school. The first book was Castle in the Air by Diana Wynne Jones, a sequel to Howl's Moving Castle. It doesn't really seem like a sequel because the main characters from the first book aren't the main characters in the second. I thought the book was just okay and wouldn't really recommend it unless you liked Howl's Moving Castle. The second book I read was Fat Girl by Judith Moore. For some reason, I thought this book was supposed to be both tragic and funny. Unfortunately, there wasn't much funny. I feel like I've read enough memoirs about people's sad, abusive childhoods. It's not a bad book, but it's a downer. Yesterday I finished reading A Family Daughter by Maile Meloy. It's a sequel to Liars and Saints. I liked it, but I found it annoying that you learn the first book was basically a lie. It's like, "Hey, remember the first book? Yeah, none of that really happened."

I'm looking forward to watching The Golden Globe Awards tonight, but I haven't seen too many of the nominated movies. I'll definitely be rooting for Little Miss Sunshine.
