I didn't get the American Cancer Society job :(
I was kind of upset about it earlier, but I'm okay now. The job did sound fun and everyone I met was really nice, but there were some things about the job that I wasn't too crazy about. So now I'm trying to focus on the negative aspects. As soon as I answered the phone, I could tell that it wasn't good news. They told me that I had made it a lot further than a lot of the other applicants, but they wanted someone with more experience. Of course they do. Everyone wants you to have experience, but no one gives you the chance to actually acquire that experience. Blah.
I'm just annoyed that they took so long to finally make a decision. I put my job search on hold because I thought I had a good chance at getting this job. I should not have done that. I've spent most of the day searching for other jobs online, but I'm not having any luck. All the interesting jobs require years of experience. I'm having trouble finding any jobs that I qualify for. Unfortunately, a college degree alone will not get you far.
I have only found one job that a) sounded interesting and b) didn't require too much experience. So I applied for the Development Assistant position at Brookfield Zoo. I think it would be fun working at a zoo, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up. Who knows if they'll even contact me.
I guess tomorrow will be spent job searching. I'm wondering if I should just try to find an internship so I can at least get some experience. The only problem is that most internships are for people currently in college. And most internships don't pay you anything. This is all so frustrating.
