Wow, I feel sore. I mean physically, not like a guy who's angry in a movie in the 1950's.

I'm working from home today because of the snow. It's not really that bad out. All of the schools around here stayed open. Yesterday we heard about the storm at work, and we all agreed that we would work from home, but if we got a phone call in the morning, we should come in. I probably could have come in, but I didn't get a call, and I knew it would still be a bitch to drive today. Plus it's Friday, and we all get to leave early anyway. It's supposed to snow on and off until tomorrow morning, so it could get worse, which would make driving home difficult. There's not much work that I can actually do from home, but I'm trying (please ignore that I'm currently on LJ). I tried to sleep in this morning, but I woke up earlier than I usually I do because I was worried about going into work vs. staying home. I got up for a while and then went back into bed. After a long ass time, I finally fell back asleep. Then I had a freaky dream and decided to get up for good after that. I'm glad that I can stay in my pajamas all day and don't have to bother with my hair and make-up. I should (and will) shower sometime today. I was panning on taking my car in to get an oil change this afternoon, but I'll just push that to next week.

Since I don't have much else to talk about, I'll briefly mention some books. The first book I read this year was Confusion by Elizabeth Jane Howard. It's the third book in the Cazalet chronicles, so that means I only have one more left. I went to the library last night and picked up the fourth one, but I'm trying to make myself wait a bit before I read it. These books are so awesome, and I'll be sad once I've finished them.

The second book I read this year was If on a Winter's Night a Traveler by Italo Calvino. I bought this book almost a year ago, but never got around to reading it. I think the word "weird" sums it up very nicely. It was hard for me to get into the book at first, and I was tempted to quit. And many times, I had to stop and ask myself, "What the fuck is going on here?" Because I bought the book, I was going to make myself finish it, whether I liked it or not. I finally did finish, and the more that I think about it now, the more I realize that I did really like it. As I said, it's a weird book, but it's interesting and different from anything that I've ever read before.

Last night I started a new book - The Ten Best Days of My Life by Adena Halpern. I remember hearing that Amy Adams was going to star in the movie version, and the description of the book sounded appealing to me. So far it's a fun, fast read. After If on a Winter's Night a Traveler, I need an easy, breezy book.

Man, I'm really hungry right now. I decided to have ice cream for breakfast instead of my usual Honey Nut Cheerios. I'll just have lunch early. I got to bring home some Jimmy John's sandwiches after we had leftovers from a meeting yesterday. Mmm, can't wait until lunchtime.

books, ice cream, work, snow
