Don't take my daughter's hand unless you mean it!

Yesterday was my one year work anniversary. I thought it was kind of funny that it was on a Saturday and not a work day. I feel like I should be saying, "Man, I can't believe it has been a year!" But I actually feel kind of the opposite - "It's only been one year? It feels much longer." It does feel good to have made it a whole year though. We'll have to wait and see how long I actually stick with this job. I would guess that I'll be there at least one more year. I'll probably be there longer than that, and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

I finally got to see some movies yesterday. First, we saw Get Smart. I thought it was a fun, fluffy movie, and I enjoyed it. Then we snuck into The Happening. My thoughts can be summed up in one word - lame. It wasn't completely horrible, but eh, I don't know if it's really worth seeing. Some of the dialogue was laughable and distracted me. I couldn't help picturing M. Night Shamalamadingdong sitting in front of his computer typing this shit out with a big smile on his face, and then congratulating himself one how awesome and clever he is. I'm just glad I didn't pay to see it.

I've also done a lot of reading this weekend. Early Friday afternoon I finished Reading Like a Writer by Francine Prose. In the back of my head, I think, "Oh, I'll write a book some day." Who knows if it will ever happen, but even if it doesn't, I still think the book was interesting and worth reading. I would recommend it if you are interested in writing and also if you're interested in analyzing literature. Then this morning I finished Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer. I did think that this one was better than the second, but that doesn't mean much. It still has all of the same problems as the previous books. I'm just grateful that I'm able to zoom through these books so quickly and don't have to spend much time reading them. I'm not excited for the last book and am definitely not dying of anticipation. I can wait. It reminds me of this time last year when I had just finished rereading all of the Harry Potter books and was dying for the last one. Ah, good times.

I just made some brownies, and I have to be careful to not devour all of them this very minute. Luckily, my sister and dad have already eaten quite a few. I watched a couple of episodes of You Are What You Eat on BBC America and now I'm feeling a bit guilty about all the crap I eat. I'm sure this feeling won't last very long though (especially as I'm stuffing my face with brownies).
