Patience

Three of my Microeconomics students came to my office to ask me some questions yesterday. One of them was asking pretty much all the questions for the three of them.

Now, this wouldn't be an issue at all, except that kept saying "axe" instead of ask. This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine since i do not understand at all why people do this.

Instead of asking her straight ahead why did she say "axing" instead of asking, i just kept repeating the sentences she said that included the work ask. I was hoping she will get my point, but apparently she did not. I thought i was being obvious. For example, she would say something as clear as "will you axe this on the test?" and i will repeat it right after here "will i ask this on the test?" For the forty minutes they spent in my office i kept doing this, but she did not even noticed.

Would it had been bad if i would have stopped her and asked her to read the words "axe" and "ask" and o tell me if they sound the same? I was biting my tongue the whole time trying not to say it.

work, stupid
