Let me get this straight: people still actually blame the mishandling of the Katrina disaster on Bush and the Federal government? Are you kidding?
Maybe that's because they get their "facts" from the likes of Seth MacFarlane and John Stewart and ignore the actual facts:
1. Ray Nagin is a moron.
2. Bush wanted to help earlier and tried to, but because of a handy little thing called States' Rights, he couldn't go in with the power of the Federal Government without the state's consent, which wasn't given in time.
But that's enough from me. Do your own research.
Research things like the wealth of other reasons we invaded Iraq besides WMDs and alleged ties to Al Qaeda. Or the fact that Bush was not the only one that thought Iraq had WMDs and wanted to invade, and that these supposed "lies" he told us were actually based on intelligence gathered and just about everyone supported his decision based on that intelligence. Yeah, it turned out to be wrong. But don't believe for a second that Bush was the only one who believed it.
Go ahead and oppose the war. Go ahead and hate Bush. Just don't do it for stupid reasons.
It's really the "in thing" to be a "free thinker" these days. Funny how when I hear that someone is a "free thinker" I can pretty much nail down their views on just about everything. Still following a crowd and being brainwashed, but it's by "alternative" means, or something.
Seriously, people. Being indoctrinated by celebrities isn't really any better than being indoctrinated by governments. It's just different. But maybe "different" is all you're really after.
I don't care about being different. I just want to be right. (See John 8:32)
And when did it become a crime against humanity to tell someone that they're wrong? Someone has to be right. Why can't it be me, and therefore, not you?
Everyone's always getting down on politicians for being two-faced, promising one thing and doing another, and just "telling us what we want to hear." Maybe they do that because THEY KNOW THAT IT WILL WORK. They know we're petty. They know we're lazy. They know we don't want to take the time to actually think about issues and the big picture. That phrase "telling us what we want to hear" says it all. IT'S WHAT WE WANT TO HEAR!
What are we? People.
What are these politicians that we complain about? People.
What are these "societies" we blame for how bad people are? People.
What are these big corporations that take jobs from small towns? People.
What are these big corporations relying on to do so? People.
Anyone noticing a pattern?
