Hehe.. I'm too busy stalking everybody else that I never update this thing.. My last entry was from 2 jobs ago... After a year and a half at HomeNet I moved to GSI Commerce (the big leagues of web development).
At GSI I worked on some awesome sites. My first project was creating a sweepstakes page for NFLshop.com, the freakin NFL man! Then I added some nice little eye-candy stuff to Tweeter.com and SportAuthority.com. I did some page creation for ToysRUs Canada, and then came the biggy, doing BCBG's entire website. It was quite a thrill to be able to work on the sites that I did, however, I wasn't too challenged with the job. I was more or less taking pre-built pieces and gluing them together. I'd rather be the one BUILDING those pieces. I was just a drop in the bucket of a pretty large corporation (the team for BCBG is somewhere around 18 people from designers/media to developers to QA, and management. So, from there I set out in my search for a job where I could have that engineering freedom and be a larger contributor to the company.
My friend Rob told me that his company was looking for some developers, so I told him to toss my resume into the ring. A few days later Ecount gave me a call back to do a phone interview. After that, they wanted to bring me in for an in-person interview. I immediately felt like I belonged there. I knew one of the HR girls' roommates, a girl Leslie that I had grown up with as a lifeguard and from swim team. One of the developers I knew from Drexel Computer Science. My would-be boss was really cool and we just went back and forth picking each others brains about new web technologies, it was awesome. So they offered me the job, and I gave GSI my 2 weeks notice (although I was only on a 3 month contract, and my contract was almost up anyway).
So, tomorrow (July 20th) is my final day at GSI, and Monday (July 23rd) is my first day at Ecount. In between there is Erin's birthday party, and who knows what else the weekend'll bring.
