louisville
so this past weekend i was in louisville, kentucky to start working on this video/dvd im doing for the presbyterian peacemaking program. for some reason i feel really productive... i did some filming there and we really started working on what we wanted the video to be. we even got brandon workn on the cover for the dvd and the case... to be honest, im actually really nervous about this whole thing. This is really my first big video and production that i've ever done. i have a budget for the film, producers, and its being printed and published for national distribution...!!! theyre even paying for my flights and hotel stays no matter where i go... i think a down side to this whole project is that its gonna take me away from school a lot this next quarter and take up a lot of my free time. im gonna be flying to colorado, new york city, and a couple times to louisville before the end of the year. the other big thing im debating with is pay... yeah im a college student, and this is my first big production, but i know i can make a great video and i know im gonna work really hard. the contract for this whole thing is being worked on and my pay is something involved in that... they are gonna pay me an honorarium for the work, which from what they were saying was gonna be several hundred dollars. however, my dad seems to disagree and is pushing me to ask for more from them for the work im doing... quite a bit more. he thinks i should get at least a $1000 for it because its gonna take away a lot of my time to work at the restaurant in savannah. there is a part of me that agrees with him, but im really not the person to argue about what ppl think is fair to pay me. i guess that's something im gonna have to learn to do, but for now i feel bad about asking for more. is that wrong??? other than that, i had a great time in louisville. we went to the palace, which is kinda like the fox theatre and they were doing a summer long thing with hitchcock films. we saw strangers on a train, which is a really good movie... i had great food while i was there and all of it was paid for! i came home really late monday night and ive been pretty lazy to say the least... got some crazy stuff happening in the next couple of days tho so hoping that all goes well.
