A WTF moment..
I have being paying attention to how things have been going in DC..mainly the fight over the budget.
Usually, I am all for cutting, smaller government, etc..but one thing really caught my eye. There is talk of cutting basically ALL funding to Planned Parenthood and any sort of birth control to lower income citizens.
We have a term for this- Cutting off the nose to spite the face.
IT is obvious that those behind this tend to be Conservative Xtian types who have issues with women not popping out kids as "gawd" wants them to. For a bunch of people who claim to be for smaller government and running cheaper, keeping funding for Birth Control in place is a smart move. By funding lower cost BC to people, many men/women who would be having kids, won't be..which keeps them off the welfare rolls and might lead them to prehaps go to school, etc.
I notice there is no talk of closing down the many military bases we have around the world that are pointless or not wanted anymore by the host country. It is about time we stop trying to police the world and take care of ourselves first.
