I am usually within sight of the specialty bedding section. I'll be waiting.

[ooc: Sure!]

[Phoenix comes to find Companion a couple hours later, two steaming mugs of tea held carefully in his hands. One of the kids over in the bunk bed section was doing a roaring trade with the tea cart he'd managed to haul down before the invasion. He walks slowly, enjoying the smell of the hot tea and, when he gets close enough, the sight of Companion before she notices him.]

Hey, [he says, as soon as he's within earshot.] Brought ya some tea.

[After hearing from Phoenix earlier in the day Companion had been considering how she wanted to handle things. In light of recent events - the revelation of experiencing Phoenix's dream, Spike's confession, and her own lingering befuddlement - she was unsure of how things might end up going. Typically a confident woman, Companion was thrown off her game and had decided to practice the calligraphy skills she was slowly coming to realize she instinctively knew when his husky voice cut through her thoughts.

Hey yourself, stranger, [she responds with a smile as she looks up at him.] How prophetic of you, I was just thinking how lovely a cup would be.

[He smiles a little, a brief curl at the corners of his mouth, and holds out one of the mugs for her to take.]

Darlin', I'm nothin' if not thoughtful.

[His gaze rests for a moment on the calligraphy beside her. As with many things about Companion, it sends small silver bells of recognition ringing in his head. He brings his eyes back to meet hers.]

I'm not interruptin' somethin'? I can come back later if you're busy.

[She smiles up at him, taking the mug as she stands in a smooth motion. A blush comes to her cheeks at his response, surprising her.]

Of course you are, how could I forget?

[She follows his gaze as it rests upon the symbols she had been inscribing, wondering if he understood them or if he was simply curious. Much like many things with Phoenix he remained unreadable even to her trained eyes. Sipping the coffee as she meets his eyes at his question she shrugs, elegantly dismissing the paperwork in light of his visit.]

Mmm, I was simply practicing some of the symbols I recognized from a book I recently obtained. I thought you knew that I'm never too busy for someone I care for...

[The last part was murmured in an effort to downplay just how far that caring might go. She left it for him to determine if she meant as a friend or as something more.]

[Whatever her meaning, his smile reappears again, his blue eyes holding hers for a long moment. Then he shifts on his feet, takes a sip of his tea, and something heavy seems to settle over his shoulders. His expression becomes serious. He glances away from her, his gaze tracking over the wilderness of beds.]

I was readin' back in the journal.. catchin' up with stuff I'd missed. Saw your writin' a couple times. [He looks back at her, frowning faintly.] I think you had my dream.

[The momentary connection of their eyes causes a shiver to go down her spine as she watches him, aware of the shift in mood when he looks away from her. She takes the moment to sit down again, certain that she'll need to for whatever is coming next.]

Ah yes, that. I believe I did as well, as did Dash. [She hadn't spoken of it with anyone, waiting for him.] I'm not sure what to say about it, other than that it was unexpected.
