Yesterday I finally saw The Descent. I have to say that I haven't felt so pumped for a new horror movie in so long. It was awesome. There was literally a moment where I realized I was watching a movie that would become an all time classic. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself but, I'm pretty sure.
Plus I can't remember the time where I was actually afraid while watching a horror film. There have been ones where I've been genuinely creeped out(thanks, Takashi Miike), but usually I am unaffected by a film's scares. But good god the part in The Descent where (spoilers ahead) the girl gets stuck in a tiny passage in the cave and she is just stuck there screaming really got to me. Personally I've always thought that that would be one of the worst things to ever happen. It's like being buried alive.
I give it my highest grade, FIVE SKULLS.
I've been playing Phantasy Star IV lately. It's pretty amazing how well the game holds up(it was released in 1995). I really appreciate how fast the battles are and the quick walking speed of the characters. I think one thing that has turned me off of JRPGs in general is the sluggish nature of so many of them.
But PS4 gives you a warp spell practically right from the start, which allows you to go to any village you've previously visited. It's really great considering how there are 23719373 villages. Also you get a land rover. When you get into a random encounter in the land rover you go into random battles blasting sandworms and giant grasshoppers with a rocket launcher or something. IT'S AWESOME.
