I am more than a little shattered by the death of David Bowie. He has been the biggest musical influence in my life, for my entire life. I don’t remember what was the first Bowie song I ever heard as I grew up with his music - my parents had all the albums either on vinyl or 8-track. I remember as a teen longing for my own copies of Diamond Dogs and The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars but I was never wealthy enough to afford them, and requests for the older albums as presents were overlooked for more recent ones. As a result I have three copies of Never Let Me Down on LP and two on cassette.

I was fortunate enough to go to the David Bowie exhibit in Melbourne (Victoria, Australia) last year with my family, which was as close to getting to see the man in person as I was ever likely to get. It was the most amazing exhibit and I am very glad I made the trip over to see it.

RIP David Bowie. You will be missed.
