또 다근 길

Listening to Kim Soohyun right now, no regrets. Such a naisu voice (*^3^)/~☆

Uhh since my last update, I started classes, went to see Sunggyu in Gwanghwamun Sonata, went to an MTV The Show taping, went to Yongin, went to Simply Kpop taping again, went to KBS Music Bank pre-recording, and went to Lotte World, not necessarily in that order. If you want to know about those adventures you can read about most of them here and about Gwanghwamun Sonata here. Since I didn't talk about MTV The Show or about KBS Music Bank in either of those posts, I'll talk about them here...

But under a cut!

So on Tuesday, Natalee and I joined WE국인 for a taping of MTV's "The Show," which is a music program airing weekly, I believe. It was in a club in Gangnam, which was kind of inconvenient at first because it meant a longer subway ride, but ended up being better because they weeded out all the underage fans and sent them home, so the number of people in the club was smaller and the average maturity level was (somewhat) higher.

I can't remember everyone who performed, but some highlights:

LEDApple - Hanbyul didn't remember us at first, but he did eventually, and he made us promise to be at Simply Kpop recording the next day, so I count it as a win. We also got to talk to (/interact with? It's hard to call it "talking" when it was hardly fluent Korean) Kyumin, to do silly aegyo at him and tell him his shoe was untied. He said "THANKS" loudly in English, it was so cute idek.

Skull - I'd never heard of Skull before, but apparently he's a Korean reggae artist? His dreads are mad impressive at any rate omg. And his backup dancers were hella cute. He performed his latest track "Trash" (쓰레기) and was a super commanding stage presence.

NU'EST - Are just as good live as they are in their MV. Not to mention that they're all extremely cute, omg ;__; my little dongsaengs. Baekho and Aron in particular were really into doing aegyo & returning the heart gestures we made at them. Ren too, though since he's the ~attitude~ of the group he was keeping a much lower profile.

MBLAQ - I could hardly watch their performance, I was so worried about Seungho. It was the actual first time I've ever been that way about a kpop artist, but he just looked like he was in so much pain... I ended up playing Fruit Ninja for most of the performance instead of watching lmao :\

and of course, WE - phenomenal performers as usual, they have such stage presence ugh. Rosie and Kanghan both high-fived us during their performance-WE knows all of the WE국인 members at this point, honestly, and they get really pumped seeing us at their performances. Macho and Mando said hi as they were leaving the stage, but they couldn't say hi during because they were on the opposite side of the platform lmfao. Oh well~

So, all in all a good night. Coincidentally Natalee and I ran into Kat and Sarah (Kat who we met at Simply Kpop taping last time, and Sarah who went to high school with Natalee, randomly), so afterwards we went to get dinner at a 닭갈비 place in Shinchon (except Natalee who went home because she didn't feel well). It was spicy and delicious and I left my credit card at the restaurant, but fortunately they kept it and I was able to pick it up the next day.

Which leads me to Simply Kpop Mach 2!

It was pretty much the same as Simply Kpop beforehand, except I did the greeting this time so I guess I'm going to come out on TV? I don't know haha I'll see when it airs. Hanbyul kept coaching us through our lines though, like "try it more like this" and "what if you did this..." He was so cute, as usual. I love how enthusiastic he is and how comfortable he is just hanging out with fans and talking to them.

The performances were basically the same too, except for a few additions: Rockstar Park Wankyu, who was absolutely incredible, M4 who were hilarious in English and incredibly skilled at singing, and a couple of solo artists whose names I didn't catch. Skull was here too, and his backup dancers were still cute and his song was still awesome.

Afterwards, Natalee, Kat, Sarah and I went to Mapo Dumpling and had spicy ramyeon and gogi dumplings that were so good let me die. I'm hungry now just thinking about it lmfao 8(

And then KBS Music Bank!

I signed up on the NU'EST fancafe to take part in their prerecording for Music Bank, and so had Kat, so we met at 8:30 in Shinchon Station to go to the KBS studio in Yeouido. When we got there we coincidentally met Shelbi, who we'd met at the MTV The Show taping in Gangnam. And then... we waited.

And waited.

And waited.

We got there at around 9:30 and waited until 3:30 to be let into the studio. Granted, we weren't outside the whole time-we spent a bit of time in Handel & Gretel, the cafe run by Yesung's mom, and talked to her-but it was still a really long waiting period. Our prerecording was originally supposed to be at 1:00, but it ended up being at 3:30... so we waited outside in the cold from 12:30 until 3:30. The actual worst. And then the prerecording was like 20 minutes long... lmfao.

I'm going to post about this on Seoulrhythm too, but here's the deal with Music Bank: If you want to go to a group's prerecording, you have to sign up with their fanclub. Most fanclubs have a list according to those who signed up on the fancafe, and if you're not on the list, your chances of getting in are small unless you're with a really small group. Also, you need swag: Chances are good you'll have to have a fan banner made to certain specifications and the group's latest CD at the minimum.

Fanclubs have a priority system wherein the people with the most swag get in first, and the people with the least swag get in last. Kat and I both had NU'EST's CD but not the fan banner, but we got in early (#3 and #4) because we were with Shelbi. Some other girls, who had the CD but not the banner, were shifted to the back of the line and put in low priority. With other fanclubs, like SHINee and B1A4, you have to have even more stuff, like the digital downloads of the songs and have the song set as your ringtone, etc.

And that's just for prerecording. You can get into the live show one of two ways:

1) Your fanclub is assigned a certain number of tickets (often the case for bigger/more popular groups like SHINee) and you get tickets based on your priority ranking; or

2) You apply for tickets on the KBS website and get in that way.

Fortunately, according to the woman at the KBS Information desk, you don't need an alien registration card number to apply for tickets on the KBS site, but you do need to be able to understand Korean.

So, all in all I'd say... the experience would have been more worthwhile if I had been better prepared for the weather, lmao. It was fun, though!

Today, me and Natalee and WE국인 are going to Lotte World again to support WE during their performance at the Kpop concert. I promised Macho I'd be there, so... ㅋㅋ

Funny story about that: I've been talking to Macho (this guy! He's a WE member) a lot lately. He followed me on Twitter not long after Natalee and I started attending WE국인 events, and now even Thea (the fanmanager) tells me she's jealous that he tweets me so often. LMFAO >///< I definitely wouldn't say we're close, but I can pretty much rely on the fact that if I tweet him, he'll tweet me back. And he calls me "Miri-yah" (my Korean name is 배미리 lmao). SOBBING.

Anyway, I'm hungry as fuck so I'm gonna go get dumplings. WHATEVER.

this came from dreamwidth follow me there yeaaaaah

kpop is a lifestyle choice, asia fuck yeah, music gives a soul to the universe, going awesome places, i love everyone, everything is awesome
