So I did end up going to Claws Out 5 last night, even though I'd kind of been debating whether or not I wanted to. And I'm really glad I actually went! Holy shit.
First of all, yes, Jay Park was there. He was with AOM (Art of Movement), his crew, of course, and they were battling for the first place of $3,000. He was much younger-looking than I anticipated, and much quieter. He spent a lot of time sitting on his own and watching other people dance, or having quiet conversations with his crew. It was kind of weird to think, wow, I'm sitting less than ten feet away from a former Korean idol.
After the prelims, I had a chance to talk to him very briefly. Well, by "talk to him" I mean I said "You guys were really good" and he bowed a little (lol) and said "Thanks," but I guess it counts. He's very soft-spoken, too. But he generally seemed like a nice guy.
Besides that, all of the other crews battling were really good. Some of my favorites were X-Mob (who had seriously a 12-year-old girl battling with them and she was awesome), Instant Noodles, DOT Posse, and this one crew whose name I can't remember but who had a 9-year-old boy battling and literally kicking the shit out of everyone. He was really good, and I don't just mean "Really good for a 9-year-old," I mean legitimately really good. His crew qualified for top 16 and then qualified for top 8, but
blinghyunism and I left before they could get into top 4 and finals, so I don't know how far they made it.
We also didn't see the exhibition battle, which was Machine from Killa4nia (USA) and Kleju from Funky Masons (Poland). But since I was basically there for AOM, that was okay with me.
I took a ton of pictures and some video of Jay and AOM battling, so I'm just waiting on
blinghyunism to upload them to her computer and then they'll be up on my YT and probably here too. It was a really worthwhile way to spend four hours xD;
