Ze Über Greece Trip
Yo ma peeps~! :D I'll try to start a journal on this trip to Greece, and finally use my LJ account. Don't expect it to be updated that often, though. I don't know how much the internet time costs on the ship, so I may only update this four times or so. I'm thinking of tying this in with my current reading in Herodotus (gotta love the rambly old man), and maybe with A Day in Old Athens. Also, expect political rantings from the latest on the elections. *fumes at McCain*
Speaking of, here's the first one. McCain called Obama's request for funding for the Adler Planetarium (for the Sky Theatre, a badly needed repair to the projections system) a pork barrel project. The cost of the project comes to about a dollar a person (population of Chicago), not counting the thousands upon thousands who visit Chicago every month. Compare that to Palin's pork-barrel sports center for Wasilla (population ~6000), coming to ~$40,000 dollars a person.
Back to subject: this journal is basically a way to stay in touch with you all, since I don't know how secure the internet on the ship will be. (I don't want to endanger the security of the Boards)
I'll be leaving Saturday, so expect the first posts to be on Monday.
