Life is absurd, or so I see and maintaining some sort of painstaking address of the future is beyond my care yet still within my want. Each year the Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) brings the best of world cinema to South Florida and encourages young filmmakers to explore and discuss the art of film. As the only major film festival hosted by an institution of higher learning, Miami Dade College is proud to host the 24th annual Festival, from March 2-11, 2007.
A record number of filmmakers, stars and industry professionals will be in attendance at this year’s Festival, including French director/producer/writer Luc Besson (La Femme Nikita, The Fifth Element, The Professional); and Dutch director Paul Verhoeven (Basic Instinct, Total Recall).
Free Films
I am happy to offer all MDC students, and a guest, the opportunity to attend as many as four Festival films, at no cost.
At last year’s Festival, more than 60 percent of the films sold out. Therefore, please review the Schedule of Matinee & Gusman Center Screenings and select your films early!
Free Seminars
The Festival also features a REEL Education Seminar Series, which MDC students can attend for free! During these seminars, film industry leaders discuss various aspects of the creative process, film production, funding, distribution, new technologies, independent filmmaking and more.

Once you have selected your films and seminars, please complete the attached Student Tickets Order Form, and submit the form to your Student Life Office as soon as possible.

All seating for films and seminars will be on a first come, first-served basis. To ensure you are able to see the films and attend the seminars of your choice, get your reservations in early.
