Legacies Ramblings

I sort of want to make a secondary character.  This is strange since I typically hate the idea of trying to divide my time between 2 characters, and every time I think I just might go ahead and make a secondary I either re-write, or decide it’s not worth the effort.

My newfound interest in a secondary is because of two reasons, one of which is pretty lame, and the other having a level of practicality.  The lame reason is that I thought of a name that I liked (it is very hard for me to come up with names, so when I do it’s a bit of a celebration for me).  The practical reason is that Fuyumi requires quite a bit of preparation between the copious layers of silk and the make-up.  Because I am back on Logistics and I travel from out-of-state to events, it is rare that I feel compelled to get into character on Friday evenings after Logistics.  On Friday’s, by the time Logistics is closed I only have a couple of hours of RP before I’m just way too wiped and need to get some sleep.  However, because of how involved it is to get into Fuyumi’s garb and make-up, I rarely feel compelled to go ahead and jump IG, if even for a bit.  It’s just so much work for a couple of hours of play, and then I need to go into the whole involved regimen of getting ready for bed (washing off make-up, changing garb, etc.).  I have to be pretty damn exhausted for me to not bother washing the make-up off, as I cannot stand going to bed with copious layers of Ben Nye shimmery crap on my face.  So, the more I think about it, the more it seems appealing to have a character with minimal costume and make-up requirements (like a human, Paleteth, Gael’braugh, or Gypsy) that I can just pop into on a Friday night and play for a couple of hours before heading to bed, and then just play Fuyumi for the rest of the weekend.

I don’t really have a character concept that interests me (aside from probably a packet chucker, since I really dislike weapons, and have no desire to be trapped in the midst of heavy combat).  I don’t even know if I will do it.  Recent IG events have been driving Fuyumi to a point where I think her garb will be simplifying itself in the near future.  Fuyumi has been embracing her new Western influences a lot more, as well as accepting what it is to be Fae, and has been growing to accept the ties that were severed when she left Nippon.

I have been planning on transitioning Fuyumi into more Western-type garb (not all of the time, but rather when she feels comfortable to not present a formal appearance).  Perhaps having simpler garb that doesn’t require me to be sweltering in several layers of silk will entice me more to jump into character on Friday nights when I feel up to it, but I doubt that, since the make-up is still a major detraction (and probably my biggest issue).  Of course, I also need to weigh just how often I have the energy to even bother playing after Logistics closes, since many times I am far too exhausted (especially if there was quite a bit of travel involved in getting to site).

So yeah, there it is, my little idea that I’ve been rolling around in my head.  I have another character idea I am interested in, and have fleshed out quite a bit of the concept (I came up with it before I even moved from Washington), except it is another make-up and costuming heavy character that is intended to be a primary character.  I plan to bring her in once I feel Fuyumi’s story has ran its course, but I don’t see that happening any time soon; in a lot of ways, I think Fuyumi’s story has just begun.  *sigh*  So, I’d really need to think of a character concept much more conducive to a secondary character.

Thank you for letting me have my geeky ramblings.

Cheers!
