New Toys! Woot!

It's been a while, so I figured I'd post an update.  So, for those of you who don't watch the news or read my hubby's journal, we had tornado's earlier this week.  It was a bit scary for a bit, but we survived and there was enough distance between where the tornado touched down in Memphis and us that we were ok.  It was mostly the violent wind and rain that posed problems, but nothing too terrible.

Aside from that, this week was exam week for my students, and they did amazingly well.  I'm so proud of my students!  One class had an average of around 85% and the other just shy of 90% (so a combined average of around 88% for both classes).  I had a huge amount of A's and some B's, while having very, very few of anything below that, which was awesome.  I was worried at first since I felt I was much harder on this exam than my exam's last semester; I certainly expected more from my students.  Yet, despite being a harder exam than what I had written previously, they did so well.  I was so happy and proud.

In other news, Josh and I both got 80 GB Zune's, which is pretty exciting.  It was sort of an early Valentine's Day present for us.  We had both been wanting to upgrade since MS released the 80 GB one, but hadn't gotten around to it.  The release of the limited edition red one for Valentine's Day was good incentive, since we both prefer color to plain black (which is the only color option of the 80 GB model currently).  We'd only had one Zune before, but now we each have our own, which is pretty nice.  Now we don't need to worry about who is going to have the Zune for the day and one of us getting to use it while the other doesn't.  Plus, we only need to worry about our own music rather than shared music.  We share a variety of tastes, but there are plenty of stuff that we don't like that the other does, so having some separation is always good.

The new Zune's are very slick.  They're smaller and lighter, but boast a larger and nicer screen. I downloaded some pictures and they look pretty nice for a little handheld.  I installed all of my music, but have plenty of room leftover, so I'll probably be hitting up the Zune Marketplace soon to get more music installed.  I probably ought to audit my music though, and get rid of anything I don't really listen to (I have plenty of stuff where I like maybe one album or something, but have all of the stuff by a particular artist or band).  So, I'll need to clean it up and get just what I want.

Our old 30 GB Zune (which was actually a present for me from Josh in January of last year, after my iPod, which was on its last leg anyway, was stolen) was handed-down to Michael, who had been wanting an MP3 of his own for quite a while, and had been specifically coveting the Zune's since he first got to mess with them when I got mine.  So, now it's his and he was able to name it and put his own music on it, which had him pretty happy.  Now he'll have music to listen to while walking across campus (which he does often, since his classes are literally across campus from one another).

Anyway, I'm pretty happy with the Zune's (especially the fun little graphics Josh and I had put on the back, which is an option you can get with the new Zune's).  Josh's is a cute robot scene, while mine is a Japanese woman in a kimono sort of superimposed on a carp (it's fitting given my love of traditional Japanese motif's, plus I named my Zune a Japanese name).  I love my husband.  He's just so sweet and wonderful, and he rocks something fierce for getting us these fun little toys for Valentine's Day.

Well, I'm pretty tired and don't have much more to say, so I'll end it here.

Miss you much!

Big Love!
