My oldest friend Crusty came to Calgary yesterday, so we had lunch together. I've known her my whole life. We lived two houses apart from the age of 5 until I headed overseas at 18. We were best friends. Then not friends at all in junior high when she got too cool for me. Then really great friends again throughout highschool. She never strayed from

How does life go from totally normal to unbelievably challenging, just like that? It terrifies me a little, and also makes me exceptionally grateful.

Mormon, um, yeah. My parents and a good chunk of my relatives on both sides of my family are full on Mormon. As were most of my friends growing up.

My whole adult life I've wishy-washed between actively participating and not. Then I had a spiritual lightbulb moment about four years ago and it's been smooth sailing (in my head at least) ever since.

I guess I don't mention it much because it doesn't really affect my life these days.

I should post about it all though, it's kind of interesting, and posterity may want that info one day.
