... i mean year. happy new year.
ok. i'm back home. back home with the poops. yes, the poops. the big D, the runs, the poops if ya will. (and i know you will.)
i think i'm all sickly now because of all the traveling and my biological clock having to adjust and then re-adjust to West coast time and East coast time. But all in all t'was indeed a great trip.
From VA Beach to NYC is approximately 8 hours. We stayed at a surprisingly nice Navy Lodge in Staten Island. We arrived on the 23rd at like, 3am got some rest, then headed out to the city around noon. We took the Staten Island Ferry into NYC. We tried our very best to look cool and not appear to be complete bumbling tourist idiots. We did not succeed however due to the overwhelming beauty of all the lights and the tall sky scrapers and the millions of dollars worth of gigantic plasma flatscreens in Time Square used for the sole purpose of advertising. geesh. man it was awesome.
of course the whole time i was somewhat in a funk because i so badly wanted to be at home for christmas. i just wanted to be with my christmas tree. what's so wrong with that? nothing lifted my spirits on Chrstmas Eve after a long day of walking and shopping at Chinatown than to turn the corner at 5th Avenue and be surprised by Rockefeller Center and it's Gigantic Christmas Tree. Just that sight made my entire year. And so we went Ice Skating. At Rockefeller Center on Christmas Eve, which made me miss my friends even more. ssss'ok though. :)
We boarded the plane to San Francisco on Christmas Day. It was a 6 hour trip, and we were greeted by my Mom's Brother whom we stayed with in Vallejo. As soon as we were picked up, we were on our way to a christmas party at a house full of people who were not related to us and whom we did not know. We did play that Bad Santa, secret Santa, steal gifts from each other game which was fun because I stole this sweet soft multi-colored blanket from my cousin and didn't think anyone would steal it away from me, a sweet stranger whom everyone had just met - but then turned into a not fun anymore game when some "aunt" took it away from me without even laughing or looking into my eyes at all. *grr* i wanted that blanket so bad. instead i got a double set of "Sing Along" CD's for kids, which I will be giving to little Liam and Abbigail for Christmas. Which kinda makes up for it. :)
The following day, we left in a van on a 6-8 hour trip to an aunts house in LA. Upon arrival, we were tired as all get the heck out when our driver informed us we were making a "pit-stop" at a party before we got to our final destination. We stayed there until 2am west coast time. We were some tired muthers.
Wedding the Next day, I was so upset cuz i thought I'd be able to wear my Jcrew dress that i hardly ever wear. Thankfully, I decided to try on the ensemble the eve of the wedding and found out that
I'M FAT
I gained some weight and the dress that used to fit just correctly now wouldn't even zip up all the way.
hmf.
so the next morning we hit a local mall and i blow $80 on another one and some shoes to match.
grrr.
i had to make a purchase i was not ready to make. anyhow, i was set back on my spending budget for the trip.
bleepy. whatever the heck that means. ssok though, cuz i like the dress.
anywho, the wedding and the afta party thang was a riot and all of a sudden there broke out a war betwixt the East Coast cousins and the West Coast cousins. Golly those West coast kids really do think different. hella different. hella, by the way is a term many West siders use in equivelance to our Super. as in, man, i'm hella tired. or, man, i'm super tired. there. it's crazy out there.
Sunday, the 28th, we drove up to Hollywood to catch some sights. We walked all up and down the Hollywood walk of Fame and saw the sweet Hollywood sign. Saved some pictures for the eve when the sign would be lit up... to our dismay when at night, after our shopping and seeing Ripley's Museum, someone forgot to turn the HOLLYWOOD sign on!! What's THAT all about!? THANKS FOR NOTHING, HOLLYWOOD.
So we make our way back to another LA party then leave early the 29th for San Fran.
On the 30th we took in some sights downtown, mainly Chinatown, saw some street trolleys. I'll post some pictures as soon as I find a good place online where i can STORE SOME FILES AND ANCHOR! cripes.
Got some dinner at this sweet Pier where there are all kinds of shops next to a shore full of real live seals, then booked over to the airport where we departed from SFO at 10pm, stopped over at Dulles approx. 8am, arrived into Norfolk at 9am (i had my own row of seats all the way there :) All the while the national threat level had been at orange since the day we left and I was developing a bad case of the Big D (which i can thank for my loss of 5 lbs.)
Slept all day New years Eve..day and partied all night at Kave's place with the Crew.
