Eureka!
Oh messmates! I've figured out what my problem is! It's like authors who get writer's block. I have cleaner's block!
ETA: I have pictures! You may remember the "before" pictures from my previous post, where so many of my newest books were still without homes because I didn't have the shelf space. But now I have a new bookshelf, and I've moved my other shelves into the same big living room (where previously I had a big red tapestry hanging) and they look very nice together. And there's even some EXTRA space on the shelves (gasp)!!!
As for the rest of the apartment, well - best not to talk about that.

Mind you, the view of the other side of the room where the sofa is still remains much the same - or has cycled back to much the same, apart from the books no longer occupying the floor.
