Well, my head has hurt ALL week due to the concert I went to on Saturday night. I went to L.'s early, and me, her, and S. hung out, got some pizza, then headed to the city. When we arrived, we went straight to the bar- not cause we are crazy alcoholics or anything, simply because at the TLA, bar means seats, and I hate standing for 4 hours straight. We scanned the scene- Yep, full of poor, unsuspecting emo guys with their girlfriends, who, like us, probably had NO idea that this was going to be a hardcore show. When we arrived there was a band playing. It was so early we figured they weren't even really part of the show, so we only half-listened. When they finally finished, another band came out. Okay, we thought, the opening band. But during their show, they kind of said who they were and it didn't sound like they said "Zao." After that another band came out. Since we thought the other band was Zao, we kind of think this is finally the band we came to see, and are kind of embarrassed that we don't know for sure. This band kind of sucked. Another band. This for sure, must be Zao. No, it is another hardcore band, a loud awful band that had NO talent. The lead singer rips off his shirt near the end of their set and tells us he was molested by his girl babysitter when he was 2. Then he tells about his faith in God, and that redeems him for telling us about his molestation. During this set, everyone cleared a space in the middle of the floor so the hardcore kids could 'dance.' Watching them was fascinating. Much better than watching shirtless dude screaming into his microphone. Then at last Zao comes out. I know for sure this is not the band we came to see cause you can tell these guys are hardcore. Sigh. More screaming music. But this band at least has a back-up singer who sings, and this makes them tolerable to listen to. Had no idea what they were saying though, so when I came home I looked up the lyrics... At last, at last, Juliana Theory comes out, looking very cute and emo. They were awesome, there was just one problem, the hardcore bands they are touring with obviously had an influence on them. They sang their songs with a hardcore twist, which made the only thing emo about their music the lyrics. Boo! Still loved them though and def. still a fan. Just wished I would have known there would be FOUR hardcore bands at this concert, and that in essence, this was a hardcore show. An education, but definitely not an activity I would repeat. I think I'd rather spend the time with those same friends listening to a Juliana Theory CD.
So there you have it- sorry it took me so long to post.
On another note, something very exciting has happened to me recently. If I have talked to you in the past week, you already know. If you haven't, then you probably don't know, so ask me about it! :)
Peace and love to you, and I have another post for later!
