One of my New Year's resolutions should be to update my journal in a timely fashion. But I do happen to be pretty timely for an Episopalian. ;)

For my birthday, my parents took me to Cracker Barrel and to see the Incredibles. Awesome restaurant- I was full for the entire day afterwards, and awesome movie! Then on Thursday, my mom and I went to NYC to see the Rockette's Christmas show. (This was a part of my birthday present.) We got there early, found Cosi's and had a delicious brunch. Then we shopped until it was time for the show. The tree wasn't lit yet, but I still love being in NYC at Christmastime. We got to watch the ice skaters a little bit, and the day really put me in the Christmas spirit.

My whole family went to Annapolis that weekend. We went to see the Navy/Rutgers game since my dad and Al are such football fans. I'm not a big fan, but seeing the games live is always exciting. And seeing the ceremony prior to the game isn't too bad either... ;) My sister and her hubby are quite the entertainers- they had worked hard to prepare a lunch for us when we got there. Spending time with her and Al, and Corrina, and Tela was fun- And pretty soon, there will be a baby too! We did a little maternity shopping, just us girls. ;) I am really excited to be an aunt, but nervous at the same time. I want to make sure I do a good job with this new responsibility!!! :)

Not too much to report about Thanksgiving. We did the usual- meeting at my grandparent's house then going to the Ramada for dinner, then coming back to the house. The food was good, the company was good, and the next day some of the family stayed for a while to help my grandparents with stuff.

The situation with my grandparents is pretty bad. I would really appreciate as many prayers as you could send my way. My Grandma is at a rehab center until her knee has healed enough to go home. But she is somewhere different than when she had her other knee replaced in August. This place is mostly a nursing home for Alzheimer's patients. People wander around the halls, sometimes into my Grandma's room thinking she is someone else, scream and yell. They aren't phones in the rooms so we had to install one for her. She tells us that if she stays there long enough, she is going to lose her mind too! She is, however, willing to muddle through until Christmas. She has such a positive outlook and I think that does her well. She is trying to socialize as much as she can, even participating in some games with patients who haven't completely lost their minds yet. We just all love her so much that it's difficult for us to see her so unhappy.

Meanwhile my grandfather is at home trying to be self-sufficient when he really can't be anymore- he is "unsteady" when he walks, can't hear well, forgets a lot, and has severe mood swings. He really needs someone to take care of him all the time and refuses help. The family does what they can, but it is really difficult to make him face the reality- he and my grandmother can no longer be independent.
