Here is white male privilege as I understand it.
I have never sold drugs, raped, assaulted, or murdered anyone in my life. BUT, if I were to pull a 180 and do any of those, then get caught by the authorities, the culture and the justice system would by default do its damndest to cast me in the best/most sympathetic light possible. And that would happen simply because I am a straight white male.
In this country, I started out on relative easy mode. I've never been sexually threatened when walking alone at any given point. I've never felt threatened while being around the opposite gender in any social situation.
Over the past couple of years, I've become a lot more aware of the problems of our culture, and the view isn't getting any brighter. I still worry that my ex girlfriend has been or is going to be raped at her college. She had already been assaulted once right after she had broken up with me.
The Roman god of war Mars aimed to wage war for the sake of acquiring/maintaining peace. I want to be able to punch the problem of so many people being made to feel like shit for no good reason away, but I know that to be impossible.
