there is always the other side, always

There will be time, there will be time
To prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet;
There will be time to murder and create,
And time for all the works and days of hands
That lift and drop a question on your plate;
Time for you and time for me,
And time yet for a hundred indecisions,
And for a hundred visions and revisions,
Before the taking of a toast and tea.

This is my personal journal. You can find my writing/music at sairelle, and my graphics at icontour.

And cause I didn't know where else to put it, here's some info for my super secret sshg_exchange gift-giver!

Firstly, whichever amazing person you are, thank you so much in advance for working on my gift, and for taking the trouble to stalk me here! :D :D :D

Firstly, if you have a particular story to tell which may or may not adhere to the following, by all means tell that story. Please don't try to "fit" things due to what I've listed here--in some ways, I'm thinking of this as a little guide in case you're stuck on ideas, and the last thing I want is for this list to make you stuck, just because I listed something that might not necessarily "fit"!

My squicks/dislikes: I don't like children and threesomes in SS/HG fics. I don't like excessively emo or sappy fics, and lines and lines detailing why Snape's all sad and boohoo don't have the same effect as it used to. I don't like explicit abuse/torture/rape that's there for the sake of creating mood & making a fic darker, but I don't mind if it's there for character & plot development. I also don't like a weak, helpless Hermione, nor do I like any self-abuse. I'm not a huge fan of anything written in the 1st person, mostly because I don't think it's possible to completely capture and maintain either Hermione or Snape's inner voice (but if you're confident that you can, then please surprise me!). Oh, and although I don't like Ron, I don't like blatant Ron-bashing for the sake of Ron-bashing.

Things I like: I love stories with a bit of weight and ambiguity, and that aren't necessarily ultra happy. Witty banter is always welcome, as is a good deal of well-placed angst. I'm also very, very partial to smut, though I do like it with plot. (That being said, if it's uber yummy smut, then I'm sold. XD) Some of my favourite fics are rather AU, because I love seeing my favourite characters in slightly different situations. I love excellent characterisation above all, and I love a Snape with his flaws and twisted past, and all those regrets and pain and bitterness.

Things that can go either way: I love crack when it's meant to be downright ridiculous and OOC; that being said, I'm not a fan of something sappy and humorous that takes itself seriously.

For art: I can't draw for my life, so I think anything that's drawn is wonderful. I have a strong preference for detail and colour, but uh, I seriously don't know much about other such terminology, so I'll leave it completely in your capable hands. :D

The bottom line: I don't have any specific preferences for genre, as long as there's a good story which makes me love Snape more. For art, I will be an ultra happy girl if Snape is in it. :D

Again, thank you so much for taking the time and effort to do this! ♥
