Oh, this is the coolest thing.
One of my all time favourite films is
Phantasm, from 1978. I saw it when I would have been about the same age as the film's main protagonist. Through the years, unbenownst to me, there have been 3 sequelae which, oddly enough, all weren't bad for sequels, largely because the director remained the same (Don Coscarelli) and the cast with additions and subtractions for sidekicks and incidentals remained the same.
Well, this nice fellow named John Klyza who's associated with it in some way did some ink work for a graphic novel, which is sort of a prequel to the whole schmeer. Just for the hell of it I sent him a sample of my work and now I'm going to be doing the painting for a graphic novel prequel to my favourite childhood film.
Wow. That's got me so excited. And it doesn't even have to do with Choronzon, although it's definitely xenodimensional!
If you go to
http://secrets.phantasm.com you can see some bad scans of it though I will be getting them in higher resolution to work with. It won't make a whole lot of sense to anyone who hasn't seen the film. WARNING: this is one of those movies you'll either love or hate. It's low budget horror with a sci-fi edge, but like I said, a distinctly xenodimensional one.
