This show combines two of my favorite things: sci-fi and british accents. I've watched bits and pieces of two episodes and I'm hooked. It's a bit on the hokey side but I love sci-fi hokeyness. I'm on the edge of my seat. Will they or won't they survive the alien coup d'etat? I must say that I had to keep watching the show when I realized that the girl's mother (I'm still learning character's names) is the love interest of John Goodman in the movie King Ralph. I liked her in that movie, so I was happy to see her again. I can't wait to really get into the show, but I have to wait til friday for the next installment. I am so used to watching sci-fi reruns that I'm way too impatient for current shows.
Speaking of reruns...I have really started to get back into Star Trek The Next Generation. It comes on this channel called G4 three times a day and if you add that to the three times it airs on Spike, then I watch approximately 6 episodes of Star Trek a day. Is that overkill? Star Trek is just so much deeper than I originally thought though I must admit that the acting at the beginning of the series leaves much to be desired. I wonder if they were trying to mimic the actors of the original series. Did you know that the Next Generation first aired in 1986? I didn't realize it was that old. I used to like Deep Space Nine but it didn't keep my attention long enough. I am also very obsessed with Andromeda. I am making attempts to see if I can like Farscape (I saw an episode and I was intrigued but I can't seem to find a standard airing time for the show. It's always on in the nighttime a.m.), Firefly, and Stargate (both versions).
I think that sci-fi keeps me busier than it should but it's been fun. I've always been fascinated with the way people construct the future and the future "Other."
p.s. there aren't any other updates really. My life is full of the same old issues and the same old complaints. I'll spare you the details. :)
