So. 22. Wow. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I mean, it's the first birthday that's more or less just a number, rather than another step towards adulthood. Crazy shit. I hid, talked to my family, a couple friends who called, played fiddle, and played d20 modern. As for l00tz, I have recieved an excellent package with clothes and good smells from my girl, a fabulous dvd set from Jess, and will get a steel-string acoustic from my dad on Thursday. I'm deeply satisfied.
In recent news, a lot of shit has been going down. I've kinda been busy to within an inch of my life. In the last two weeks, I have:
-moved. Into an excellent studio right across from a pool. No, I will stick with my farmer's tan.
-had my mom's wake. It was really wild. A lot of really wonderful experiences. The service was fantastic, we planted a tree in her ashes and drummed, and then some friends did a dance show (one was a prima ballerina...it was amazing). A lot of people let down a lot of grief, and I think it was quite cleansing. The final feeling was something of a mix between those one gets after having a really good cry and having really good sex (bear with me, I know it's weird); kinda cathartic, cleansed, warm, glowy, endorphin-rushed and with people you love. It was good, but exhausting.
-Pursuant to the above point, my whole family came into town. Both sides. It was NUTS. This meant I was driving to Santa Fe a lot, and dealing with a lot of people's emotions rather than just my own. It was wonderful to see everyone though. Even if they did completely forget I was vegetarian and thus gave me three grocery bags about half full of meat. The cats have been eating well.
-Pursuant to the above point, I laid down what I think was my best D&D campaign EVAR. This meant even less sleep.
-Patched things up with a friend. Also crazy. Wasn't sure that was going to happen. Lots of emotions.
-Experienced a major change of perspective and identity.
-Finished my art history class. Finals were two days after the wake. It sucked, but I got an A.
-Started another class. Yay poli sci.
-Unpacked. Mostly.
-Said goodbye to Sam, Rosie, and Leif. Peace, kids. I'll see Sam again in August when she comes back through New Mexico on her way out east to pick up her cats. She's rockin' the trails and parks of the west coast right now.
-Cried a little, and laughed a lot.
So yeah, it's been wild. I owe a lot of people phone calls, don't feel left out, I've just been tired and busy if I haven't called you. Love to everyone who called on my birthday. Peace, bitches- Mike
