She had told me just a day or two before that it was a crack house, but I thought it was hyperbole. Now I know better than to question her statements ...
Anyway, the local news folks came in and did a story, featuring a fair amount of footage with her daughter. But B was bummed because the video was streamed off the TV station's site; no way to save it.
I said I didn't think it could be done, but I'd heard of hacks that could do it. But while we're chatting, now I'm curious, and I start poking around to see if it could be done.
I found a program, but it was in Japanese; I couldn't even figure out how to download until I looked at the source of the web page and found a link. Got the tool, but the menus are in some pidgen english that almost but doesn't quite make sense.
But 33 minutes after she told me about the video clip, I'd figured it out. Got the video, skipped the commerical at the beginning, downloaded, saved. Done! W00T!
I'm not generally an egotist. But I love it when I can perform a bit of magic like this for a friend. (P came to trust that I could do or find almost anything. )
I especially love it when I wade into something I don't know anything about and manage to figure something out. That's the pleasure of knowing something really, really well.
