"what you are pessimistic about....since you're always so optimistic... :) "

I am horribly pessimistic about the fate of mankind. How about that for pessimism? I don't really think that things will get better with the world, though I wish they would. I think I can attribute this to studying ancient history. I know from my studies that humans haven't changed much in X,000 years, and probably won't change much in the coming X,000. I have no faith in politics or government. I suppose the current crises around the world will eventually fix themselves, but more will spring up. I'm an activist, and I fight for human rights where I can, but I know that on the grand scale I'm doing nothing to help. It's kind of strange, but I'm very nihilistic when it comes to this point. Governments will come and go, and people will kill and maim, and you've just got to try to look for the good stuff, because it's not going to change.

Though, this too is a strange form of optimism, because I think this is the way it's supposed to be. Future Man, the "drummer" for the Flecktones once told me "All the bad things are just fertilizer for the fields." And I believe that. So, in some strange way, I think all the crap in the world that isn't going anywhere serves a vital spiritual function. It's not really any better or worse, in the grand scheme, than the good stuff. But I'm still going to count it as pessimism.
