Ode to Coffee
O, beverage full of rich caffeine,
Made of blackest coffee bean!
How, to people tired and worn,
Do you deliver in the morn?
You reached through Egypt and Yemen,
How did you these nations win?
You've favor of America,
Great Coffea arabica.
Coffee berries house the bean,
From species of small evergreen.
We pick, and process, and dry up,
So you may grace our travel cups.
Throughout time to self and soul,
You've played a beneficial role.
And doubtless few would find it strange
We trade you on the stock exchange.
O, richest drink, pure and elite!
Sometimes bitter, sometimes sweet!
From the office or cafe,
Guide us, waking, through the day!
