So it all started as 86 very timid and very out of shape individuals and ended with 56 hellbent demi-gods playing their hearts out for one another. Four years can go by quickly if you dont stop and look at it.

Well as you probably can tell, our season is over. The Golden Knights of St. Francis butted heads with the Black Knights of Notre Dame and lost, 42-14. However, the score doesnt reflect the game. We didnt get blown out, it was an extremely close game, but thats beside the fact. Our guys gave everything, and i mean everything. We had a torn meniscus, 2 hematomed elbows, numerous sprained joints and ligaments, fractured hand and still they found the courage to fight the number two team in ALL of California, and they did it with grace.
I want to thank my team, my coaches and my parents for all they have done for me. To my team mates: Thank you for never giving up, regardless of the situation. I will deeply miss all the great times we had together whether it be on the field, screwing around in practice, or out enjoying life (or a good beer.) To my coaches: You are all like seccond fathers to me. The past four years have been tons of fun all due to the time and commitment you have put in for me and the rest of the team. You all have taught me so much about football and life, i will never forget you and your words. Lastly to my parents, (and all the other parents for that matter) Thank you for all that you have done for us. Rooting for us in games you knew we'd loose, taking us to morning practices when we didnt even want to get up, sitting in the extremedies of temperature, just to keep our spirits high. Thank you for all you have done.
One last thank you goes out to all our fans, we greatly appreciate all of you, I know i'll be at all of your events, just as you were at mine.

We work together, we fight together, we play together, we slack off together, we laugh together, and we cry together. No one hid their tears last night. Yes I cried when I saw my mother, I cried not because of what we had lost, but because of what we had accomplished getting there and not being able to finish it. So i pass it down to the Juniors and Sophomores, you take revenge, you show no mercy next year. For all we know, we may never get a shot at ND again, but if we do, you know what to do. I'll be back to see you guys, regardless of where i'm at college. I love every one of you guys and i will miss everything we've done together.

I'll end with an excerpt from our Code of the Golden Knight:

"Victorious in Competition, Loyal to his alma mater, Reverent unto God"

Everyone who strapped up with me last night was not only a true Golden Knight, but more importantly, a man.
