Mamie came out of her thoughts quickly “Nothing mom!” “I’m just so happy to be spending time with you that’s all!!!” she hugged her mother “Now come on lets get you dressed it’s 10 a.m.!” They went upstairs to her and Pierce’s room. “Now mom go get you a shower and then I’ll do your hair and make up for you!” Mamie said excitedly. “Ok Mames, what’s going on?” Meryl asked. “Nothing!, I was just remembering how we all used to do your hair and make up when we were little, we did some pretty wild things this will give me the chance to redeem myself!” Mamie covered quickly. “Ok sweetie” Meryl giggled. While Meryl was in the shower Mamie went to her closet and found some jeans and a cute shirt for her mother to wear. Then she set her mom’s make up out and started heating the hair straightened. Meryl came out shortly after in a robe. Mamie sat her down and dried her hair. When she was through and started straightening her hair Meryl looked at her in the mirror “thanks sweetheart” she said. “For what mom?” ‘For doing this, for staying with me while Pierce is away, for being you.” Meryl said and smiled at her daughter. “Your welcome mom, but you don’t have to thank me I love you and I don’t mind. “ Mamie smiled back. She quickly finished Meryl’s hair and left it completely down, then she did her mom’s make up. She applied it lightly, Meryl never wore much make up, but the on thing Mamie did that Meryl didn’t do was apply some black eyeliner. She looked stunning when Mamie had finished. She helped her get dressed and by the time they were done it was noon. “I’m hungry, are you hungry mom?” “Yeah, I am, I’m eating for two remember?” Meryl teased. Mamie laughed and went and fixed them both a sandwich. They ate and then Mamie announced “Mom I forgot a couple of things I need for this week at my apartment, would you mind coming with me to go and get it?” “Sure honey, what did you forget?” Meryl asked. “Oh, I got pitched a new script and I was hoping we could run through it together and you could help me decide whether or not I should take the part.” “I’d love to sweetie!” Meryl said excitedly. “Great! Lets go!” Mamie said helping her mother up grinning to herself. Meryl had no idea what they were really going to her apartment for.
When they arrived at her apartment Mamie helped Meryl out of the car and quickly text Grace and told her they would walk through the door in just a couple of minutes. Mamie opened the door and then purposely led Meryl through first and when Meryl reached to turn the light switch on she was greeted with “SURPRISE!!!” “Oh my gosh!!!” Meryl said excitedly “Thank you all so much!!” she gushed. Mamie’s apartment was decked out with baby decorations. Grace and Louisa ran and hugged her. “Did we get you mom?” Louisa asked. “Yes you certainly did!” Meryl said happily. She looked around to see who all was there. A huge grin spread across her face when she saw Amanda Seyfried, Julie Walters, and Christine Baranski. They all ran and gave her a hug. “Oh my god! What are you doing here?” Meryl asked. “Please you don’t think we’d miss this do you?” Julie asked. “No, no I don’t thanks for coming!!” Meryl looked at her daughters “How did you pull this off?” “Well the surprise shower was Louisa’s idea, then we all made the arrangements, I got Kori to help me get a hold of everybody and then it was Mamie’s job to get you here!” Grace said proudly.
Meryl turned and hugged her PA and thanked her. There wasn’t a lot of people there just close friends. “Well let’s get this thing started!” Meryl said happily. They passed some of the cake and drinks around and The girls immediately wanted their mother to open presents. “Ok This one is from me!!!” Louisa said excitedly. Meryl opened it to find a beautiful baby book. Her eyes immediately filled with tears. “Oh sweetie this is so beautiful!” Meryl said flipping through it. “Well all four of us have a completely filled out book, so we wouldn’t want this baby not to have one.” Louisa said. Meryl embraced her baby. “I love it thank you.” “Ok, I’m next!” Grace announced. Meryl took the packaged and opened it, inside the box was a beautiful silk pillow that had lace pink lace around the edge and in pink letters said: Heather Louise Brosnan 2009. “How did you know what we were going to name the baby?” Meryl asked. “I called Pierce and got it out of him.” Grace giggled. “Honey it’s beautiful!” Thank you so much!!” Meryl said hugging her. “O, now it’s my turn!” Mamie said. “Ok mom close your eyes.” she said. Meryl did as was instructed and Mamie went to her room and quickly came back with a baby stroller. Meryl opened her eyes and tears filled them again. “It’s the stroller I used for all four of you!” Meryl said. “Yes, but with a couple of changes.” Mamie said. Meryl looked it over and found on the side embroidered on material were all of her children’s names. “Aw sweetheart thank you so much!!” She hugged her daughter tightly. “Henry sent this by mail and wanted us to give it to you for him.” Louisa said. She handed her mother a small box and inside was a beautiful white gold charm bracelet and their were 5 charms on it. The first four had a picture of each of her children when they were babies with their initials the fifth had the baby’s initials and was waiting for it’s picture to be put in. Meryl was crying. “Oh my gosh!” “Mom, Henry’s n the phone.” Mamie said pointing to the speaker. “Henry it’s beautiful, your so sweet! I wish I could hug you right now!!” Meryl said. “I love you mom, and I’m glad you like it!” “I have to go, I’m running late, but I’ll call you later I promise!” Henry said. “Okay sweetie, I love you too, bye!” Christine and Julie then piped up. “Ok enough crying! It’s our turn!” They handed her a box. “This is from both of us Honey” Christine said. Meryl opened it and nearly died laughing when she found all four of Pierce’s James Bond movies. “Hahaha!! I love it it’s great!!!” Meryl said giggling. “Well sweetheart you are his latest bond girl!” Julie joked. Meryl smacked her on her head lightly. “Ok Meryl, here’s mine.” Amanda said. “I wanted to give you something practical, something every new mommy needs!” Meryl opened the box to find a package of wipes and diapers!!! Meryl once again started laughing. “Yes very practical Amanda, thank you!” Meryl continued to open presents, and finally after 3 hours of talking and laughing everyone left. As Mamie and Meryl were leaving Don showed up. “Hey, the shower was ladies only so I didn’t come, but I had to give this to you personally.” he said “I’ll give you two a couple of minutes” Mamie said. “Don you didn’t have to get me anything” Meryl said. “I wanted to, you know to prove to you we’re still friends, now open it.” he said. Meryl took the box and opened it to find a silver rattle. It had Heather’s name engraved on it. “Don, it’s… beautiful” Meryl said her eyes filling with tears. “Thank you so much you have no idea how much this means to me.” “I love you, Meryl.” he said. “I love you too.” Meryl reached up and kissed him softly on the lips. “Thank you so much.” she said again. “Anything for you.” Don said “I have a meeting so I better go.” he said.
When Mamie and Meryl got back to her and Pierce’s apartment she called Pierce and told her all about her day. “I’m so glad you had fun baby.” Pierce said. “It was so sweet of all of them, especially Don I can only imagine how hard this is for him.” she said. They talked for awhile longer and then hung up. Her and Mamie laid in her and Pierce’s bed that night going over Mamie’s new script. “Sweetie I really think you should take this role.” Meryl said. “Really?” she asked. “I’m positive your perfect for it!” Meryl said. “Thanks mom!” Mamie said. They both fell asleep after hours of talking.
The week flew by Mamie and Meryl had been having a great time and Pierce was finally coming home. Meryl was scheduled to have her C section delivery in 2 short days and she was so happy Pierce would be with her. She had been trying to call Pierce all morning but hadn’t been able to get a hold of him and the reason was because he was on the phone with the designers for the nursery, they understood they only had a few hours to do everything before Meryl got home. Mamie was to get Meryl out of the house at around 10 a.m. and keep her out until they picked Pierce up at the airport. “Mamie why can’t I get a hold of him?” Meryl asked. “Mom, he’s probably busy packing and doing last minute things!” she said. “Yeah your right. I’m sorry!” Meryl said. “Wow your on a hormone roller coaster!” Mamie joked. “Come on, we can go shopping for baby clothes!!!” Mamie suggested. “What a wonderful idea!!” Meryl said. They got ready and as promised Mamie had Meryl out of the house by 10 a.m.
They went to lots of baby stores and picked out all kinds of cute outfits. Winter was just a couple of weeks away and it was freezing there in New York so they made sure to get plenty of warm clothing and blankets as well. They found the cutest little outfits that said Mommy’s angel and Daddy’s princess. They shopped for hours until Meryl announced she was tired and need to rest. They went to a small café and ordered some lunch. It was a little after 3 and they were supposed to be picking Pierce up in about half an hour. Mamie got the text from the designers saying that their team was almost finished. They were there for about 15 more minutes. “You ready to go pick Pierce up?” Mamie asked. “YES! I am!” Meryl said excitedly. Just then she felt a sharp pain. “Ohh!” Meryl said “mom are you alright?” Mamie asked. “I.. don’t know!” She said Then the pain hit her again. “I think… I’m having a contraction!” Meryl said terrified. Her worries were confirmed when her water broke. “Mamie I need to get to the hospital now!!” Meryl had some paparazzi following her and they immediately started talking photos. Mamie quickly got her mom to the car and drove like a bat out of hell to the hospital. Meryl’s contractions were coming about 5 min apart. They immediately got her admitted and Dr. Johnson was attending to her and Mamie was trying to get a hold of Pierce. “Pierce as soon as your plane lands come to the hospital! Mom has gone into labor!” Then she called her Dad because she didn’t know what else to do.
“OH MY GOD!!” Meryl screamed as a contraction hit her. “Dr. Johnson I’m scared this wasn’t supposed to happen!!” Meryl said in tears. “Meryl calm down, everything will be fine, we will do a C section here in a few minutes, everything is going fine right now, we can get the baby out now but I thought you might want to try and wait for Pierce.” “Yes Thank you.” Meryl replied and then another contraction hit her. “HOLY SHIT!!” Meryl screamed. Don arrived at the hospital and when Meryl learned he was there she immediately wanted him in the room. He came in immediately with ice chips and sat down and held her hand.” “Don thanks for being here!.” Meryl said. “There’s no need to thank me, I would do anything for you don’t you know that?” he said. “Don I’ve been thinking… this baby is going to need a guardian, and I can think of no one better than you” she said. “I’d be honored Meryl.” he said just then another contraction hit. “SON OF A BITCH!!!” Meryl said. Don chuckled. “You never were very lady like during labor, at least this time you can’t scream at me” You bastard you did this to me!” He mocked her. Meryl giggled. “Yeah”
Pierce’s plane landed and he got the message and immediately hopped in a cab and headed to the hospital. “Please let everything be alright!” Pierce thought. He called Mamie and got an update and arrived at the hospital in 10 minutes.
“Meryl we can’t wait anymore, the baby’s heart rate is dropping we have to get her out now!” Dr. Johnson said. Just then Pierce bust through the door. “PIERCE!!!” Meryl screamed. He ran over and hugged her, “I wouldn’t miss this for the world!” He turned to Don “Thank you for being here for her.” “No problem Don said. “I’ll leave you two now.” he walked out and the doctor filled Pierce in. Pierce got into what he was required to wear to go into the operating room with her. They rushed Meryl in with her screaming and holding Pierce’s hand through the pain. Dr. Johnson explained that once in the room he could have the baby out in 60 seconds. It was the longest 60 seconds of Meryl’s life. She didn’t remember it taking this long with her other children. Finally she heard their baby girl crying. They got her cleaned up and then handed her to Pierce as they got Meryl stitched up. After they had that done Pierce brought their baby over to her. Meryl took her in her arms. “Pierce, she’s perfect!” Meryl said. “I know, just like her mother.” Pierce said. They held her for a little while and then they took Heather to the nursery and got Meryl moved into a regular room and Pierce took the girls and Don to the nursery to see the baby. “Oh she’s soooo cute!” Louisa gushed.

They all walked Meryl out of the hospital and then Pierce put Heather in the backseat and drove them home, Meryl had to come back in 6 weeks for a check up and so did the baby. “oh God!” Meryl said on the way home. “We don’t have the nursery set up!” “Don’t worry sweetheart!” Pierce said as they pulled up to their townhouse. Pierce helped Meryl out and then got Heather out. He lead her upstairs and then handed her Heather and blindfolded her. “Pierce what are you doing?” “I want it to be a surprise!” he said. He opened the door to the Nursery and led her to the middle of the room. He took the blindfold off and Meryl gasped. “Pierce it’s….perfect.. It’s sooo beautiful! She said in tears. One wall was light pink, one was light blue , one was light purple, and the room had a green pastel trim. There was stuffed animals and a recliner in the corner along with a beautiful crib. “Thank you” she said. “It’s amazing!” She walked to the crib and laid Heather down. Pierce walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her. “I thought I couldn’t love you more, but seeing you look at our child like that, I know I was wrong.” he said. She turned around and kissed him passionately…………

Two days later after the doctor had observed Meryl and made sure she was alright and Heather was alright they let them come home. Meryl and Pierce had discussed and agreed on Don being her guardian. They all walked Meryl out of the hospital and then Pierce put Heather in the backseat and drove them home, Meryl had to come back in 6 weeks for a check up and so did the baby. “oh God!” Meryl said on the way home. “We don’t have the nursery set up!” “Don’t worry sweetheart!” Pierce said as they pulled up to their townhouse. Pierce helped Meryl out and then got Heather out. He lead her upstairs and then handed her Heather and blindfolded her. “Pierce what are you doing?” “I want it to be a surprise!” he said. He opened the door to the Nursery and led her to the middle of the room. He took the blindfold off and Meryl gasped. “Pierce it’s….perfect.. It’s sooo beautiful! She said in tears. One wall was light pink, one was light blue , one was light purple, and the room had a green pastel trim. There was stuffed animals and a recliner in the corner along with a beautiful crib. “Thank you” she said. “It’s amazing!” She walked to the crib and laid Heather down. Pierce walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her. “I thought I couldn’t love you more, but seeing you look at our child like that, I know I was wrong.” he said. She turned around and kissed him passionately…………
