Part 1

There is only one who can walk Heaven and Hell freely. For angels are to remain in Heaven, and the fallen, the demons, are to remain in Hell. Neither is allowed to travel to the other, or to the Earth in between. An accidental birth from a forbidden encounter gave one the power to do all three. For she is the offspring of the arch-angel Isabella, and the fallen Lucifer, Satan himself. From the moment of her birth it was decided by God himself that once old enough to be out of Isabella’s care, she would remain on Earth, and visit above and below, until the end of days. It was she who would seek out and prepare the battleground for the war between good and evil. Upon the day of the prophesized start of the battle she would be forced to cross from her place in between and stand either next to her mother in battle or her father.

She has spent her years on earth building something for herself and trying not to think of the inevitable. Her eternal life as on track as it could possibly be. She tried marriage, even had children. However, true love of another was always missing from her life, until Andrea Sachs walked into her office for a job interview as her assistant.  That was the day she acknowledged the possibility of finally finding love. However, the day Andrea Sachs left her pushing through a crowd of paparazzi by herself was the day that Miranda Priestly realized that she was in love, and it was that same day that all three of her worlds began spinning into chaos…..

Miranda Priestly paced her hotel room in Paris as she relived the events of the day. Andrea had left her.  Her Andrea, Miranda fumed and as she did the furniture in the room began to lift off of the ground and float.  “How dare she leave me! Foolish girl!” Miranda said and stopped in the middle of the room. “Am I really so horrible?” Miranda asked to no one in particular and began to cry. Her life had been a mess ever since Andrea Sachs had set foot in her office, and she had been stupid enough to fall for the silly girl. To fall for someone she knew would probably die in the coming months. The thought of her death caused Miranda’s heart to clench and the glasses on the bar shattered and the room began to freeze. Suddenly there was a burst of white light in the room and the room returned to normal temperature and the furniture was placed back down. Miranda rolled her eyes and turned around to find a beautiful blonde Angel standing behind her.

“Mother, what do you want?” Miranda asked. “My child, do not be so upset, you have many gifts and if you would only use your vision to look ahead you would see that Andrea has not left you.” The Angel said. “Mother, while it is kind of you to tell me that I know the powers that be would not allow you to be here on earth unless you had something far more important to tell me.” Miranda said and the angel smiled. While the Angel was indeed Miranda’s mother, she looked years younger than Miranda. Even angels, or half angels in Miranda’s case, aged if they were on earth for any length of time, and Miranda had been on earth for over a thousand years. “Of course, you are right as usual. I have been sent to tell you that the end of days has begun.” The angel said. “I know that Mother.” Miranda replied. “My child I was sent to remind you that you have to prepare the battle grounds, and at the start of the battle you will have to have made your decision.” The angel said. “I know Mother, I must decide whether or not I want to fight with you and the rest of the angels, or fight alongside Father and the other Fallen.” Miranda said. “Yes, well I was sent to tell you to find the battle ground charm and begin wearing the charm, that way you can find the battle ground. You will know the charm when you lay eyes on it. Once the battleground is found, you will know what to do with the charm in order to prepare the grounds. Goodbye my child, I trust that in a few hours you shall be calling me.” The angel said. “Mother what are you talking about now?” Miranda asked. “My child, you can be so stubborn, you seem quite capable of using your other gifts, lifting furniture, smashing glasses, changing the temperature in the room, so why don’t you use one of your most valuable ones, use your vision. You will soon know why. Good bye.” There was another burst of white light and the angel disappeared.

Miranda rolled her eyes as her mother left the room. However, Miranda was curious as to what she was talking about so she looked straight ahead and used her vision to see what could possibly be happening in the near future that she would need to call her mother down from Heaven. As she looked she gasped. She saw Andrea standing outside her suite and knocking on her door. Miranda shook her head and smiled. “Andrea is coming back to me.” Miranda said and smiled. Miranda looked around the room and saw that the only thing that was out of place from her tantrum was the broken glasses. Miranda waved her hand and the shattered pieces rose into the air and reassembled themselves, then the glasses dropped lightly back onto the bar. As she did this she heard a knock at the door and she calmed herself. She walked over to the door and opened it, finding Andrea on the other side, as she knew she would.

“Miranda, please don’t shut the door, I understand if you do, but please don’t.” Andrea said. Miranda stepped back and let her into the hotel room. “Miranda what I did earlier today was wrong. I should not have left you like that. It was very immature and I hope you forgive me. What you did to Nigel upset me and I let it go to my head, but I love my job, and should you let me I wish to continue working with you. ” Andrea said. “I see so other than apologizing why did you come back?” Miranda looked into Andrea’s eyes and saw nothing but sincerity. However she realized that there was probably more to her story than what she was saying so Miranda decided to put another one of her abilities to use and she read Andrea’s mind to see what else might be going on.

“Please take me back, please take me back. Oh who am I kidding? Why would she take me back? I am nothing to her but a lowly assistant, she could never love you the way you love her.” Miranda retreated from Andrea’s thoughts in mild shock.  “She came back to me, but why would this be so important that my mother would descend from heaven?” Miranda thought and glared at Andrea. As she did Miranda noticed that Andrea’s bracelet was beginning to glow and Miranda’s eyes widened.

Andrea felt her wrist get hot and she looked down to see her bracelet glowing brighter by the second. Her eyes widened and she looked up into Miranda’s eyes and noticed that her eyes were equally as wide.  As the bracelet began to get hotter Andrea quickly reached for her wrist to remove it. “Andrea don’t!” Miranda said “Miranda, it’s burning me!” Andrea said in pain. Miranda rushed forward and reached out and took Andrea’s wrist quickly removed it. Immediately the object floated from Miranda’s hand and secured itself around Miranda’s wrist. Andrea began to rub her burned wrist and star at Miranda in awe. “Miranda what the hell just happened?” Andrea screeched.

“Andrea I know this is going to be very difficult for you to believe, but I need you to listen to me.” Miranda said and Andrea nodded. “The bracelet around your wrist is not just a bracelet, it is a charm that will reveal the battleground for the war against good and evil.” Miranda said. “Miranda that is bullshit.” “Andrea you will watch your language and no it is not. I need you to listen to me. I wouldn’t tell you this unless it was true, I wouldn’t even tell you if you didn’t need to know. However it is clear that you are meant to know of what will happen in the not so distant future, sit down and listen.” Miranda said Andrea sat on one end of the couch while Miranda took the other.

“Okay, so if my bracelet reveals the battleground why did it fasten itself to you?” Andrea asked. “Because Andrea, I am the battleground guardian.” Miranda said and Andrea looked at her obviously confused. “Do you believe in God, and Satan?” Miranda asked. Andrea simply nodded, still looking confused. “Okay then, the first thing I should do to make you understand this is explain to you who I am. If you believe in God and Satan then I am sure you know of how Lucifer came to be kicked out of Heaven don’t you?” Miranda asked. “Of course I do. God kicked Lucifer out of heaven, along with his followers after he disobeyed.” Andrea said and Miranda nodded. “Yes, that is correct. When Lucifer was thrown out of Heaven he was separated from the one he loved most. Her name is Isabella and she is an arch angel. Isabella loved Lucifer dearly and one night she snuck down here to earth and met Lucifer to try to get him to beg for The Father’s forgiveness. She made love to him in a desperate attempt to get him to change his mind and come back with her. So they could be together. However Lucifer had changed far too much, he was truly a fallen. So Isabella returned to heaven brokenhearted. When God learned of the meeting he made it forbidden for Angels to travel to Hell, and for the Fallen to travel to heaven, he also forbid them to walk the Earth in between.” Miranda said and looked at Andrea who was listening intently.

A very short time after that Isabella learned that she was expecting a child. Nine months after their meeting I was born. Half Angel half Fallen.” Miranda said and Andrea gasped and her eyes widened. “Once I was old enough to be away from Isabella God sent me to earth. For you see the way I am now, I am too angelic to rule in hell with my father and too demonic to remain in Heaven with the Angels. I am the only one allowed to walk all three places. God gave me a job. I am to walk the earth until the end of days, and then I am to find the battleground and prepare it. On the day of the prophesized battle I am to choose which side I am to fight on. I will choose the side that will protect my family when the time comes.” Miranda paused and Andrea asked “But what does my bracelet have to do with anything?” “You’re bracelet is the charm I need to locate the battleground and prepare it. That’s why it glowed and became hot, then attached itself to me. You may have noticed that your bracelet itself is a charm bracelet, granted an expensive one.” Miranda said and Andrea laughed. “This bracelet, as I’m sure you have noticed has three interesting key charms. One being angel wings, one being the key, and the last being the dagger. The wings represent me, the key represents the revealing and the dagger represents the battle.”

Miranda had finished her speech and she looked at Andrea willing her to believe her. Andrea stared at Miranda and at the bracelet around her wrist and smiled. “I believe you Miranda.” She said gently. Miranda sighed in relief. “I’m glad. I’m very glad.” Then Andrea got a curious look in her eye and Miranda smirked. “You want to know if I have any abilities.” Miranda stated Andrea looked at her surprised “How did you know that?” she asked “One of my gifts is that I can read minds.” Miranda said gently and Andrea’s face paled. “Then you heard what I was thinking earlier.” She whispered. “Yes, I heard something about my not loving you the way that you love me. Oh Andrea you are wrong.” Miranda whispered and Andrea looked at her startled. “What?” Andrea said confused. “I have loved you since the day you walked into my office.” Miranda said and gently put her hand on Andrea’s cheek. Andrea felt her chest feel with warmth, with joy. Miranda loved her and that was all that mattered. Miranda leant in and captured Andrea’s mouth with her own. Andrea returned the kiss, parting her lips just enough to let Miranda’s tongue inside and soon the kiss deepened as their tongues tangled together and they both began to pant.

Suddenly Miranda’s mouth became still against Andrea’s. Andrea broke the kiss and looked at Miranda. Miranda’s eyes were glazed over and she looked as if she were in a trance. Kissing Andrea for the first time had brought to light something about the battleground prophecy that had been kept from her, as she had been thrown into a vision.

“Miranda?!!” Andy said shaking her gently. Miranda was brought out of the vision immediately and she stared at Andrea with tears in her eyes. “No” Miranda whispered. “What happened Miranda?” Andrea asked gently. Miranda just shook her head, unable to believe what she had seen in her vision. She looked at Andrea and placed her hand gently on her cheek. “Another gift I have as half angel, half fallen is the gift of vision. I can see into the future. I do not use this gift often; I have always preferred to be surprised. However I used it tonight, just before you arrived; I used it and saw that you were coming back. Sometimes though, I am made to see the future because I am to be warned. That is what happened just now.” Miranda said sadly. “It doesn’t sound like good news.” Andrea said and Miranda shook her head. “It isn’t my darling. I need to speak with my mother, and afterwards I will tell you what I saw.” Miranda said quietly. Andrea nodded her head. “Will you wait for me in the bedroom darling?” Miranda asked and Andrea nodded. “Of course I will Miranda” Andrea said and got up and walked into Miranda’s bedroom.

Miranda got up as well and walked towards her window overlooking Paris and called “Isabella, arch angel of the Lord, I call on thee my mother.” A burst of white light spread through the room and Isabella appeared.  “My child, I see you have already found the charm. Good work. I also sense that you were shown the rest of the prophecy.” Miranda turned towards her mother and glared. “Yes, why was I not told that the holder of the charm would be the first to die in battle, for that matter why is Andrea even to be involved in the battle?” Miranda asked fuming. “My darling, I was not informed that it was Andrea who carried the charm. I did know of the whole prophecy however and I am sorry it is your Andrea who will die. In order for the battle to truly begin the first to die must be Andrea.” The angel said and Miranda growled and the room temperature immediately went frigid. “If you did not know then why did you say earlier that you knew I would be calling on you?” Miranda asked. “I thought that you would be calling on me to tell me about your Andrea and to ask for her to be spared. When you found the charm and I saw that it was Andrea who held it only then did I know the truth.” The angel said and walked towards Miranda and laid a gentle hand on her.

“I am sorry my child, but Andrea will perish in the battle.” Miranda yanked herself away from the hand. “I will find and prepare the battleground as is my duty. However it is also my duty to protect the ones I love. Andrea will not die in the battle. Not if I can help it. You and I both know that the humans sent to heaven live in their own version of what would be perfect for them, and that the angels are not to associate with them. I would never see her again. I will not allow this.” Miranda said quietly and firmly. Isabella nodded her head sadly. “You cannot change the prophecy but I know that you will try.” Then the white light flashed and she was gone.

Miranda closed her eyes and allowed the room to rise back to normal temperature, then she entered her bedroom and saw Andrea sitting frightened on her bed. “I felt the temperature drop out there, and I heard the conversation.” Andrea said as a tear spilled down her cheek. “Another thing I am capable of is changing the temperature. When I get too angry to control myself the temperature does change, usually downward.” Miranda said and then went over to hold Andrea in her arms. “She said I cannot change the prophecy, but I will change it, or find a way around it. I promise my darling Andrea. I will not let you be killed, or at least not allow you to be killed.” Miranda said gently and Andrea nodded her head. “I believe you Miranda.” Andrea said and Miranda smiled “do you want to see something else that I can do?” Miranda asked and Andrea nodded her head. Miranda got off of the bed and slowly began to raise it from the ground. Andrea laughed. Then as the bed lowered Andrea found herself still suspended in the air. Andrea laughed harder in delight as Miranda lowered her gently back onto the bed. “Miranda do you have wings?” Andrea asked and Miranda smiled at the question. “When I need them they appear, yes I do have them. Now it’s late, and we are going home tomorrow, so we have to be up early. I would like you stay here and sleep with me tonight. We can get to other pleasantries once we are back home and settled.” Miranda said and Andrea nodded her head. “I would love to sleep with you.” “good’ Miranda said.

They spent a little time getting ready for bed, and Andrea questioned nothing when her tooth brush, and pajama’s magically appeared. They got into bed with Miranda holding on tight to Andrea and as she fell asleep Miranda whispered “I will always protect you my love” Then she too fell asleep…..TBC
