Meryl and Pierce ended up getting home just before 11, and they were immediately greeted by Don, Mamie, Grace, Louisa, Henry, Heather, Dana, and Harry. As soon as they walked through the door Henry ran up to Meryl and picked her up and twirled her around and sat her back down and hugged her. “Mom, I’m so happy your alright!” he said with joy. Meryl kissed him and hugged him back. Then Dana and Harry ran to her and did the same thing. “Our big sister is home in one piece, you have no idea how happy that makes me!” Harry said, and Dana quickly agreed. She was then attacked all at once by Mamie, Grace and Louisa. “Mom, we thought we’d lost you.” Louisa cried. “I’m so happy your home mom, I don’t know how I would have handled it!” Grace said. Mamie hugged her mom and said “I was scared shitless, I’m so glad your alive and home safe.” Meryl hugged them all. I love you all so much, and don’t worry I’m not going anywhere for a long, long time.” Meryl said. She saw Don and he walked towards her and handed her Heather. Meryl cradled her baby girl in her arms. Then Don hugged her carefully, so they didn’t disturb Heather. “I’m so glad your back safe and sound.” and as Don said it there was no mistaking the amount of love he still felt for Meryl, everyone in the room could see and hear it. Meryl smiled with tears in her eyes and pecked him gently on the mouth. “Thank you.” she said. Everyone managed to leave by 11:30 because they knew Meryl desperately needed a good night’s sleep. Pierce ran Meryl a bath while she laid Heather down in her crib, and then she walked into the bathroom. Pierce undressed her and helped her in. “Oh my God” Meryl said once she had gotten settled in and Pierce had started scrubbing her back for her. “what?” Pierce asked. “I just can’t believe it’s over, I for awhile I thought I’d never get out of there.” Meryl said. She burst into tears and Pierce wrapped an arm around her. “I’m so sorry you had to go through all of this.” he said softly. “Pierce please.” Meryl said looking at him. “I need you, please… make love to me.” she said quietly. Pierce kissed her softly and lifted her from the tub, he dried her off and when that was done he carried her to their bed and laid her down. He kissed her slowly, and passionately. He kissed every inch of her body. He didn’t even think about himself, he knew she needed him, to feel his love for her and that’s exactly what he did. He made love to her extremely slowly and tenderly and when he was done he held her in his arms and kissed her softly until she fell asleep.
Meryl woke up the next morning in Pierce’s arms feeling safe and loved. Pierce was already awake, he kissed her gently and they talked a little while then he got up and brought her breakfast in bed. He fed her and pampered her. “Is Heather still asleep?” Meryl asked. “She was just waking up when I went to make breakfast so I went ahead and fed her, and she’s either asleep or playing in her crib.” Pierce grinned Meryl got out of bed and walked to the nursery and sure enough she was playing with her toes in her crib. Meryl smiled and picked her baby girl up. “Mommy missed you so much sweetie pie.” she cooed. Heather was in a playful mood so Meryl took hold of her under her little arms and said. “You want to go for a ride in a space ship?” Meryl lowered her below her knees and instantly lifted her up over her head and made blast off noises. Heather was laughing and Meryl was too. Pierce just stood in the doorway in awe. Meryl looked so happy and she had the unmistakable look of love in her eyes for their daughter. “Look at Daddy” Meryl said. She turned Heather towards Pierce. “Isn’t he the most handsome, best Daddy in the world?” Heather giggled in response. Pierce laughed and came over and put his arm around Meryl’s waist.
At around noon they arrived at the police station. Meryl sat down with Pierce in Detective Beasley’s office and Meryl gave him her statement, telling him about everything that happened. “When I first realized what he wanted I knew for the time being I needed to play along, I hoped if I did he wouldn’t kill me because I was so scared and didn’t know what he was capable of.” She said her voice shaking. “When he tried to….” he voice trailed off. “When he tried to get me to have sex with him yesterday and I tried to get away that’s when I realized I had been right and if I hadn’t played along I would be dead, he was no longer nice and polite at all and he decided that he was going to have me whether I liked it or not.” she said starting to cry. “ He tied my hands above the bed and started trying to get his clothes off, if you tow had have showed up 30 seconds later he would have been in the middle of raping me.” she whispered. Pierce took her in his arms. “He is being charged with kidnapping and attempted rape Ms. Streep he will get a minimum of 50 years in prison.” Detective Beasley said. Meryl nodded. “And you don’t have to worry about him getting off the hook either, we are going to make sure that he never harms you or your family again.” ‘Thank you very much.” Pierce said. Then they left the station. Meryl spent the whole day with her family, just enjoying being back home and safe. The press followed her around all day. “Meryl what was it like to be kidnapped?” “Did he rape you?” Meryl put her head down and ignored all of their questions. She knew for the next few weeks until he was convicted and everything was settled she would be followed, but she hoped it wouldn’t be bad.

A little over a month passed and it was the beginning of July, Eric was convicted quickly and without hesitation. He had to serve 60 years in prison, and had no chance for parole. The wedding was A little over a month away and everything had been planned and invitations had been sent out. Valentino finished Meryl’s dress, and of course he was invited to the wedding. There were only a couple of little details not finished. Her and Pierce needed to pick out their rings, and there was an ongoing argument as to who was giving Meryl away. Meryl was meeting with Harry, Dana and Henry later that day to try and knock some sense into her brothers and her son. They were all in town for the Fourth of July anyways.
Meryl sat down to go over their plans for the day. Her and Pierce were going to go and pick out their wedding rings and they planned to be back home at 3 and then after she got everything sorted out with the boys they were all going to watch the fireworks. Pierce came downstairs and shook her from her thoughts. “You ready to go pick out our rings?” he asked. She smiled and replied “Yes.”
They went to Tiffany’s. Being the fourth of July nobody was really interested in going to a jewelry store so to their good luck they were in the store alone. A young woman stepped forward and introduced herself as Megan. “Can I help you with anything?” she asked hopefully. “yes, we would like to see your wedding bands please.” Pierce said and winked at her. Megan’s knees turned to jelly as she turned around and led them to the counter with the wedding bands in it. They selected Meryl’s first and after lots of looking Meryl’s eyes kept going back to one ring specifically and as if Pierce read her mind he asked “Can we see that one please?” Megan took the ring out and handed it to Pierce. He slipped it on Meryl’s finger and she gasped. “Pierce it’s perfect!” she said. “I was thinking the same thing.” he said. The band was white gold and it had diamonds and sapphires all the way around it. Then they chose Pierce’s his was easier to choose, his was also white gold so it would match Meryl’s and it had just a few diamonds around it, very small and discreet and it matched Meryl’s perfectly. They paid for them and then headed home.
As expected shortly after they arrived back Henry, Dana, and Harry came over. They all sat down in the living room and immediately began to bicker over who was giving Meryl away! “Okay now we each have a case to make and we are tired of arguing, so like I said we have each made a case and you are going to listen and decide Mary Louise.” Harry said. Meryl sat down and said “All right when your ready.” Pierce came into the living room with an amused look on his face. “I’ll go first.” Harry said. “Well Mary Louise, I should give you away because I’m your oldest brother, you and I have been through a hell of a lot together, Dad gave you away the first time and I only think it’s fair that it should be me that gives you away this time.” he said and sat down. Dana stood up. “Meryl I’m your baby brother and you always looked out for me, and when I could I looked out for you once we got older. I feel it should be me that gives you away because of that.” Dana said and sat down. Henry stood up then “Mom, I’m your only son. When I found out everything that was going on with Pierce I rushed her in a panic with intentions to kill him, I’m really glad I finally got calmed down and I didn’t kill him because he makes you happy, happier than I’ve ever seen you which for me is saying a lot because you’ve always been happy. I would like to give you away because it would be my way of saying I’m accepting Pierce into our family, and that I really truly do support you two in what you are doing, and also as my way of saying sorry for being an ass to begin with.” Meryl had tears in her eyes and Harry and Dana looked at each other and then at their nephew, they knew he needed to be the one to give Meryl away. “You really do take after your mother don’t you Henry?” Harry said chuckling. “You really out did us, but now that I’ve heard it I think Dana and I can both agree you’re the one to give Mary away.” Meryl stood up and wiped her tears away and hugged both of her brothers and then her son. “Sweetie I would be honored if you give me away.” she said and kissed his cheek.
Later Don, Mamie, Grace, and Louisa came over to the townhouse and they all packed a picnic basket and headed on top of the roof where they could see the fireworks when they were set off from central park. They laid their blankets out and talked and ate their food. When 9:30 rolled around and it was good and dark outside the fireworks started up. Heather, unlike most babies sat there fascinated by all the colors instead of crying because of the noise. They all were busy watching the fireworks when Pierce leaned over and turned Meryl’s head so she was looking at him, then he kissed her gently. Everyone else except Henry was too busy watching the fireworks to notice. He glanced over at them and chuckled and said under his breath “Of course they’d have to start their own fireworks.”……………
