With the quickness...
Ah!!!! Moving next Thursday; I think we're doing well packing but it's hard to tell. The biggest recent news is that I'll be teaching at UGA after all. I had contacted them a while ago about getting some classes, but they said they were all set. Then last week I got an email asking if I could come down so we could discuss teaching in the fall. I love those kind of "interviews"-- the kind where they have already decided to give you the job, and they just need to tell you about it. Problem was, they weren't positive they had funding to hire someone...
So yesterday, I got word that they DO have funding, and they offered me three classes, which is great. Along with the two I already have at Gainesville State College, we should be all set. But the really good part is UGA pays TWICE AS MUCH, literally, as Greenville Tech. The Dir. of the Comp. program said they almost never hire adjuncts, because they have enough Ph.D.s to do the teaching (from what I've heard, they don't even give MAs assistantships)... I'll even have an office... damn, that's good news... but now the bad news...
So before I had found ANY classes to teach, I agreed to teach a one-day a week class here at Strayer that runs until the end of September. I figured I could get out of it if I found enough work in Athens, but the district dean is holding me to my "contract" with Strayer, so I'm going to be a super-duper busy little monkey until the end of September... Teach 9-1 in Greenville Monday, drive to Athens, teach five classes Tuesday and Thursday, and take a class on Wed... Eek!
Remember that band, Eek-a-mouse or something... hmm...
