We just got back from seeing the movie Easy A. It's an independent high school comedy movie about a girl that ends up lying that she had sex with a bunch of people in order to help them be more socially accepted. And of course, the other students start hating her for it, and becomes sort of like the Scarlet Letter, which is heavily alluded to in the movie. I should mention, even though it's a movie that takes place in high school, it never set off my "oh god its a high school movie" vibes. We all found it quite funny and enjoyable, and also, it had a very touching speech by a character named Brandon, her gay friend, about how everyone says life will get better, but the problem is that it really sucks now. Eerily reminded us of the
It Gets Better Project. The only real criticism I have of the movie is that once again, the main love interest guy is woefully undeveloped to the level that makes me almost wonder why he's even there. (Think like the guy in Juno.) Anyways, in summary: good movie. Go see it.
