Today is
Ada Lovelace Day, a celebration of women in science and technology, named after one of the first female computer programmers (who also happened to have a very cool name). So raise a toast sometime today to your favorite technological and/or scientific heroine.
For this year's ALD, I'm celebrating
Madeleine L'Engle - it might be a stretch, but along with Andre Norton, she had an immense impact on me at a very young age. Not only was she a great writer, she explained a couple of higher concepts of physics in her 'Wrinkle in Time' books such that the 8-year-old me could grasp them and realize both how significant and cool they were. Besides, the happy medium....yay :)

Thanks, Ms. L'Engle!
Who are you celebrating today - or if Ada Lovelace Day is new to you (it was to me!), who would you celebrate today if you were in a celebratin' kind of mood?
